DC Comics Reveals New Batman Villain

DC Comics revealed a brand new Batman villain that will make their debut in Detective Comics #1000.

The new villain will be similar to fans of Rocksteady Studios’ [easyazon_link identifier=”B00IQCRKT8″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Arkham Knight[/easyazon_link] game. In fact, the new villain is a new version of the Arkham Knight.

Arkham Knight

And unlike previous iterations of the Arkham Knight showing up in DC Comics such as 2015’s [easyazon_link identifier=”1401260667″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Batman: Arkham Knight – Genesis[/easyazon_link], this version of the Arkham Knight will be introduced into DC Comics canon.

This new version of the Arkham Knight will be written by Peter Tomasi with artwork by Doug Mahnke. Tomasi is no stranger to the Arkham Knight as he wrote the prequel story, Batman: Arkham Knight – Genesis, for Rocksteady Studios’ Arkham Knight.

For fans familiar with the video game, the identity of the Arkham Knight was a long-held secret, but was eventually revealed to be Jason Todd. It’s more than likely Jason Todd will not be the Arkham Knight in this new version of the character as he is currently running around the DC Universe as the Red Hood.

It does appear DC Comics will be keeping the design of the Arkham Knight the same, despite it will most likely be a brand new character inhabiting the suit. As you can see from the official teaser image above, the Arkham Knight will not be afraid to wield firearms as he is carrying a pistol in his right hand. It also looks like the Arkham Knight will be proficient in swords.

What do you make of this new villain being introduced into the DC Universe? Are you interested to discover who might be hiding behind the Arkham Knight armor? Do you have any guesses who it might be? Do you think it could be a jaded member of the Bat family? Or will we see DC Comics take a risk and introduce a brand new character who has come to inhabit the Arkham Knight armor?
