Former Marvel Editor Heather Antos Returns to Comics with Valiant Entertainment

Former Marvel editor Heather Antos will return to the comic book industry after a brief stint as the Editor-in-Chief at Unikrn, an e-sports website. Antos joined Unikrn in March of last year. Antos revealed she will join Valiant Entertainment as an editor.

Antos will begin work on Valiant’s upcoming Livewire series with writer Vita Ayala. She is also expected to “develop a stable of her own titles,” according to Valiant.

In an interview with The Beat Antos teased that this new stable of titles might explore the horror genre.

“Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows of my deep love for horror and using genre to explore the darker reflections of humanity. However, that genre wasn’t something I was able to dabble on as deep as I wanted to during my time at Marvel. This is all changing at Valiant, though. And I CANNOT wait to explore their universe through this lens!”

Valiant Entertainment’s recent line-up of books has deep roots in the horror genre whether it’s with Jeff Lemire’s [easyazon_link identifier=”1682151557″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Bloodshot Reborn[/easyazon_link], Robert Venditti and Renato Guedes’ [easyazon_link identifier=”B07JMF589Z” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Eternal Warrior: Awakening[/easyazon_link], or the absolutely fantastic [easyazon_link identifier=”1682152138″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Britannia[/easyazon_link] series. It’s quite possible Antos could begin working on these series. However, it’s also possible she might spearhead new titles in the vein of Britannia.

Antos revealed that Valiant is giving her quite a bit of freedom in working on what she describes as “very exciting dream projects.”

“Valiant boasts a gallery of some truly fascinating characters and concepts, and leading up to the release of 2020’s BLOODSHOT film, the comics have never been better.

I can’t talk about too much just yet, but what I can say is I’m very excited about the freedom Valiant is giving me to work with some of the best creators in the business on some very exciting dream projects.”

Valiant Senior Editorial Director Robert Meyers praised Antos, “I’ thrilled to announce the hiring of Heather Antos.” He continued, “Heather has a sterling reputation, from the launching of the Star Wars line at Marvel, to her recent work at Image on Injection and Bitter Root; he is the kind of voice we want at Valiant. With Heather joining us, we have a fully staffed Editorial department – each member brings unique story viewpoints that will broaden and deepen the Valiant line. I look forward to reading the stories Heather develops within the Valiant Universe.”

Antos became a controversial figure in the comic book industry. She was the focus of a number of videos by comic book and industry critic YouTuber Diversity & Comics. He claimed Antos was “fansphobic.”

Another Marvel insider reportedly reached out to Diversity & Comics to describe what it was like to work with Heather Antos. The insider describes Antos and other Marvel editors attempted to drastically change the comic book industry from the inside.

The insider specifically says, “I felt the support, but it was nothing compared to the wave of progressive and SJW nutjobs I encountered. They were mobilized.”

The insider continued, “with my livelihood at risk if I unwisely opened my mouth. I’m just waiting for the inevitable crash, hoping that something better will come after.”

The insider would go on to describe Heather Antos and other Marvel editorial staff, “Almost every assistant editor I deal with now is a Heather Antos level feminist. Like a virus they’ve multiplied exponentially. Soon these nutjobs will be promoted to higher positions and they will hire even more feminists and SJWs. There are no creators or editors left to stand against this because most of them are totally cucked. You are talking about a lot of beta men who have no idea how to say no to a woman. They willingly submit to these blue-haired freakshows.”

The addition of Antos to Valiant comes just a year after the publisher announced that DMG Entertainment would fully purchase the company. The purchase would see the exit of acting CEO Dinesh Shamdasani who resurrected Valiant with Jason Kothari in 2012.

Following Shamdasani’s exit, former Valiant Executive Editor Joe Illidge would also leave after taking on the job in April. He would write an open letter published by The Hollywood Reporter explaining his optimism for the future of the comic book industry describing it as the “most exciting time to be in comics!”

Valiant would also lose their Marketing VP Hunter Gorinson in March.

What do you make of Valiant bringing on Antos? Do you think this is a good move by the publisher?
