Avengers: Endgame Fan Theory Sees Obscure Marvel Character Save Ant-Man from the Quantum Realm!

With the upcoming Avengers: Endgame now part of the nerd community conversation, the vague amount of detail in the latest trailer has led to our fellows doing what they do best. Writing up some of the most outlandish theories and speculating ad nauseum about what we could expect from the film.

The theories are far and wide. Some include an appearance by the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. Others indicate we will see a cameo from an Eternal. There are some that also introduce Namor or the Black Knight, both characters pre-dating the inception of Marvel as a comic book company.

Well, there’s no better place to find the most bizarre theories than the Reddit user forum.

Scott Lang’s Escape from the Quantum Realm

When the Avengers: Endgame trailer hit, a lot of theories started coming out about how Ant-Man/Scott Lang gets out of the Quantum Realm. For those of you who haven’t watched Ant-Man and the Wasp, spoilers ahead. At the end credits scene we find that Paul Rudd’s character is gathering some of the mysterious energy contained in this realm with Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne, and Hope Van Dyne monitoring his progress from the outside. As he finishes gathering the energy, he attempts to reconnect with the three outside, only to get radio silence. The scene cuts back to outside. It is there we see dangling communications device and ashes being blown in the wind where the three Pym family members once stood. Thanos claimed three more victims.

And spoilers for everyone who hasn’t seen [easyazon_link identifier=”B07CLGV76S” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Avengers: Infinity War[/easyazon_link], Thanos gets all six Infinity Stones, snaps his fingers and ends half of all life in the universe. And they turn to ash. Some of the more notable folks getting snapped are Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Black Panther, Star-Lord, Groot, and Wanda Maximoff.

So, how is Scott Lang getting out? Well, one redditor r/dyberzz came up with a bizarre theory. One so far-fetched and pulling from a failed franchise, The Inhumans as well as grabbing at straws for the smallest incidental detail from the Avengers: Endgame trailer.

“In the trailer, Captain America has that same object he had in the 1st cap movie, and in this movie, we can see its pointing Northeast! Assuming they went back to their base in New York and they would head Northeast, if we look in the map, we can see a place called Svalbard, and who can they find there? A guy called Adam Roderick! And what are his powers? Well, he has the power to influence his surroundings as well who listens to him and he can teleport everywhere he wants! Will he be the key to save Ant Man?”

Who is Adam Roderick?

Adam Roderick

Adam Roderick is a relatively new Inhuman who has made a total of two appearances in the Marvel Comics. He appeared in two issues of [easyazon_link identifier=”0785198482″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Karnak[/easyazon_link]. Karnak revealed Roderick’s power emanates from simply speaking.

Adam Roderick

Roderick himself would describe his ability as “I draw with people now.”

The character would see himself as a god and begin treating people as his own subjects. Karnak’s mission was to bring him home to his loving parents, but it eventually turned into stopping Roderick as he became a threat to planet Earth and humanity.

I’m sure a number of you are uninitiated to the world of the Inhumans. For those of us not too informed, Adam Roderick is so far out a character in the Inhumans world that I’m not surprised you don’t know about him. It’s like knowing all about a minor character like Ulysses Dragonblood of the Deviants. The fact that someone has enough deep-cut information about the character of Adam Roderick to make a post about him is astounding enough. For r/dyberzz to tie him in with what’s going on with the Avengers is a stretch too far though.

Given Adam Roderick is such an obscure and relatively new character, I find it hard to believe he will be featured in Avengers: Endgame, let alone play a pivotal role in saving Ant-Man from the Quantum Realm.

As we saw in Avengers: Infinity War, director Joe and Anthony Russo are finding inspiration from the comic books, but they aren’t directly adapting them. They are also telling their own story. One only has to look at how the Russo brothers revealed the Soul Stone to see how they aren’t tied down to the comic book lore. Because if they were we definitely would have seen Adam Warlock show up and that didn’t happen!

And the fact that Roderick is an Inhuman makes his appearance even more unlikely. The last we left the Inhumans, their show had unfavorable reviews, low viewership, and ultimately met cancellation by ABC in May 2018. So why pull from such a panned property to introduce a character to such a lauded one?

Plus, Adam Roderick is more an enemy serving himself in the comics. For the films to make him into a hero at any level just seems to be more stretching.

Let the Mad Speculation Begin

Despite such an absurd theory, I don’t think I’ve heard the looniest of them yet. I’m waiting for someone to pose Howard the Duck pulling Scott Lang from the quantum realm. Or Mad Jim Jaspers makes an appearance to undo everything Thanos had done to the universe. Perhaps Captain Marvel’s cat is the key?

Either way, we are good at making up some really bonkers stuff. So what are some of your theories concerning Avengers: Endgame? Sound off in the comments below or reach out on social media!
