New Report Reveals How Steve Trevor Returns in Wonder Woman 1984

A new report reveals just how Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor will return to the land of the living in DC’s Wonder Woman 1984.

The last we saw of Pine’s Trevor was him flying off in a plane filled with toxic gas. The plane explodes seemingly killing Steve Trevor.

A new report from We Got This Covered indicates that Trevor will be resurrected by long-time Justice League and DC Comics supervillain Maxwell Lord. They believe that Pedro Pascal is slated to portray Lord in the upcoming film.

The report sees Lord team up with Kristen Wiig’s Barbara Ann Minerva as the pair search for magical artifacts that can grant Lord the power of a god. However, his relationship with Minerva goes south when she is cursed by a discovered artifact that turns her into Cheetah.

Lord then seeks the aid of Wonder Woman to combat Cheetah and in return uses one of his artifacts to resurrect Steve Trevor.

Who is Maxwell Lord?

Maxwell Lord IV was originally conceived as a manipulative and powerful businessman by Kieth Giffen, J.M. Dematteis, and Kevin Maguire when they first introduced him in Justice League back in 1987.

In fact, Lord is the main man behind the creation of the Justice League International. In the original run, Lord was being manipulated by a computer created by the New God Metron. That computer would eventually become possessed by Kilg%re, which wanted to create a peacekeeping force to dominate the Earth. Kilg%re had hopes of controlling the League and using it for his own whims. In order to create that peacekeeping force Kilg%re manipulated Lord into create a would-be terrorist to be the Justice League International’s first villain.

Lord would go through a number of changes in his relatively brief history. He would later gain mental abilities allowing him to manipulate and control thousands of people at once.

Later on he would seemingly die of a brain tumor, only to be taken over by Kilg%re and become a cyborg.

Most recently, Lord’s psychic ability gives him a form of persuasion that allows him to exploit people’s underlying desires. He would show off his powers in the [easyazon_link identifier=”1401274781″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Justice League vs Suicide Squad[/easyazon_link] arc where he acquires the ancient artifact the Heart of Darkness. He uses it to manipulate the Justice League in order to create “peace” in the United States. However, Lord is being manipulated by the villain Eclipso and is really spreading chaos and evil across the world.

Chris Pine on Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman 1984

While Pine has been rather mum about his reprisal of Steve Trevor in 1984 he has revealed a few tidbits that could give plausibility to this new report.

In an interview with Variety, Pine did reveal a little bit about what we can expect from Trevor.

“This one is a little different for me tonally. The tables are turned, and I’m more of the deer in the headlights.”

As for what actually happens to Pine’s Trevor, Pine revealed he’s known for quite a while telling BBC Radio 1:

“She, Patty had told me her idea somewhere in the middle of the first one and…when Patty gets an idea it’s a pretty powerful thing because you can see the kernel land in the dirt and then all of a sudden it just starts growing and becoming a tree you know, and she could make you do anything. That happened with a TV show we did and she just fully formed, and then she acts out every part.”

What do you make of the idea that Maxwell Lord will revive Steve Trevor? How do you think Steve Trevor will return in Wonder Woman 1984?
