Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Reboot Confirmed – Production Set to Begin By End of Year

After the latest two live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films starring Megyn Fox as April O’Neil, the Turtles will be getting a reboot from Paramount and the A Quiet Place producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.

The producers announced the reboot on the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards.

They indicate they hope production will begin at the end of the year. However, they don’t have a director and have not made any cast decisions.

“We don’t have a director yet. We have dates we’re trying to hit.”

Asked about what the appeal of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, producer Brad Fuller gave a pretty great answer, “The thing about the Turtles is the same thing about A Quiet Place, it’s about a family, and being invested in a family.”

When pressed about his comparison to [easyazon_link identifier=”B07BYSTXMF” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]A Quiet Place[/easyazon_link], he responded, “I say they are both family stories about the families sticking together and supporting one another.”

Last July, The Hollywood Reporter noted that this upcoming film would be written by Andrew Dodge, who wrote Jason Bateman’s Bad Words. He’s also worked on Space Jam 2 and O’Lucky Day. According to THR, the film will be produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller under Platinum Dunes. In their report, they indicated the move would simply be called Ninja Turtles.

The most recent incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the big screen saw the mutant brothers transformed into hulking goliaths that jumped around New York City, a sharp contrast to how the Turtles have appeared in previous live-action films as well as in animation and in the comics.

My hope is the design of the turtles returns to a more 80s animated look instead of the super-sized turtles from the past two films.

The turtles were originally created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird back in 1984. The comic series introduced us to the four turtles named after Italian Renaissance artists who would be trained in the art of ninjutsu by their rat master, Splinter.

The four brothers fight to defend New York City from a plethora of villains including The Shredder and his Foot Clan as well as the alien warlord Krang.

Are you excited for a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie? What do you hope they do with the rebooted film?
