New Avengers: Endgame Theory Points to Threat Greater Than Thanos

Since the finger snap that snuffed half of the universe’s population hit the Marvel world there has been a ton of theories and discussion about how things will unfold in Avengers: Endgame. One theory indicates the Avengers will face a threat greater than Thanos.

The theory is based of a toy leak from last October that features Thor and Rocket Raccoon in new white outfits, which many have speculated are Quantum Realm suits. However, the theory focuses in on a few details scene on the packaging’s description of the toy. It reads:

“The Asgardian Thor wields the mighty Stormbreaker in his battle against new foes. Rocket teams up with a new crew to guard the galaxy from an even greater threat.”

Reddit user /u/ak2usp theorizes that the Avengers will actually face a foe that has already been introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He believes they will have to face Doctor Strange big bad, Dormammu.

While Dormammu made a deal with Doctor Strange to never attack Earth, ak2usp explains this deal is no longer in effect because Doctor Strange was dusted by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.  Dormammu will be able to sense that Strange is no longer protecting Earth and he will decide to launch a new invasion of Earth, but this time with his own army gathered from all corners of his Dark Dimension.

In fact, the theory explains how Dormammu might attack Earth as well:

“Thanos snap somehow opened a gateway for the ruler of dark dimension and to his most advantage there are no soccerer supremes (sic) left to guard earth from him.”

If this theory turns out to be true it would be a wild turn of events. We know that after the finger snap left Thanos in a weakened state. You can take a look at the end of Avengers: Infinity War and see that using the Infinity Gauntlet with all the stones left his left arm looking like it was burnt.

Joe Russo even provides his own commentary in the special features for [easyazon_link identifier=”B07CLGV76S” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Avengers: Infinity War[/easyazon_link] where he confirms Thanos has been damaged permanently.

“See there, with his Gauntlet and the arm, the power that it takes to use all six Stones is significant, and clearly damaged the Gauntlet and damaged Thanos permanently.”

While Thanos might have seen his left arm and hand permanently damaged, he still has a functioning right arm and hand. He also seems to quickly heal, recovering from Thor’s brutal attack that nearly killed him on an unknown world. He also is still in possession of all six Infinity Stones. Thanos is more than likely still the biggest threat in Avengers: Endgame.

However, I could see Dormammu playing a role in the film. Given the Thor and Rocket Raccoon toys most likely show off Quantum Realm suits, it’s quite possible that Dormammu doesn’t actually attack the Earth realm, but instead attacks through the Quantum Realm. It’s possible the Avengers may have to face Dormammu as they attempt to traverse the Quantum Realm in order to time travel to undo Thanos’ actions.

While Dormammu is a villain the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already teased and even showcased, it’s also possible that they could introduce the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror.

Kang the Conqueror could actually have made his base in the floating city in the Quantum Realm that is seen in Ant-Man and The Wasp.

Quantum Realm City

That city could be a version of Kang’s Chronopolis which is his base city in the comics. The city became the main playable area in [easyazon_link identifier=”B071HV9NQT” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2[/easyazon_link]. In the game, Kang destroyed the Nexus of All Realities to create Chronopolis which combined a number of iconic Marvel locations into one major area. It included Knowhere, Hala, Xandar, Manhattan, Medieval England, and others.

But alas this is all speculation! What do you think? Would this be a great time for the minions of the dark dimension with their master Dormammu to make their way to Earth? Do you think Kang the Conqueror might come into play? Or is there yet an unknown figure looming over the MCU? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
