Marvel Wants to Go Higher, Further, Faster in Captain Marvel Super Bowl Spot

Marvel just dropped their Super Bowl television spot for Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson. Take a look.

Captain Marvel is projected to have an opening box office weekend of $140 million or more.

While the film might feature Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, most of the discussion of the film has been surrounding the identity of Jude Law’s character.

Initial reports indicated he would be playing the original Captain Marvel from the comics, the Kree hero Mar-Vell. However, those reports have been disputed by toy leaks which indicated he could be playing long time Captain Marvel viullain Yon-Rogg.

Law definitely revealed that he was not playing Captain Marvel in a Q&A with Wired, “No, I’m not. Brie Larson is Captain Marvel. Am I allowed to say that?  I’m just going to make sure the Marvel police aren’t going to shoot me. No, I can say that.”

Along with speculation of Law’s character, Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury, dropped a couple explosive details about the film including the fact that Carol Danvers has the ability to time travel, “She’s one of the few people in the Marvel universe that can time travel, so…”

Not only did Jackson reveal Danvers can time travel, but he also indicated the Tesseract would be involved in the film, “Seems like the Tesseract has been the constant in all these movies.”

What did you make of this Super Bowl commercial? Do you plan on seeing Captain Marvel in theaters?

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
