Birds of Prey: Set Photos Provide a New Look at Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Her Tattoos

Following her previous tease on Instagram, photos of Margot Robbie on the set of Birds of Prey in Los Angeles leaked which give us all a better look at how she looks playing Harley Quinn this time around.

Site JustJared shared an entire gallery of 50 or so images of Robbie in the middle of a scene. She walks down the street unwrapping and eating a jumbo burrito from Chipotle, or a similar restaurant, with mirth on her face that likely stems from Harley Quinn’s reported independence.

Her brand-new, bright pink outfit shows off new tattoos that indicate this new chapter in the saga of Harley Quinn and the cinematic DC universe will live up to its full title (“the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn“). Word is Harley moves on from the Joker and takes time to bask in the single life, those tats and alterations of them serving as proof.

References to Puddin’ (Harley’s classic pet name for Joker) are crossed off and replaced in spots. The word “Puddin'” is crossed off on her right leg and a tattoo on her left leg was changed to say “Pudding Cups.” One tattoo reading “P+H” is reportedly untouched. While “P” can mean “Puddin'”, some are saying this “P” is for Poison Ivy, Harley’s frequent BFF in crime.

Joker and Harley’s dysfunctional relationship has taken up residence in Splitsville on occasion, and Quinn sometimes found shelter and an ally in Ivy — the two often taking on Batman, Batgirl, and others together. There is a promise of the Quinn-Ivy dynamic being explored in the revamping of DC’s Extended Universe; Robbie herself is rumored to be interested in that. In fact, there’s a rumored Harley-focused trilogy that will involve the Gotham City Sirens of which Ivy is a member of.

Birds of Prey will be out in theaters this time next year. It stars Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, and Jurnee Smollett-Bell, the team of superheroines spring into action to save a female child from the clutches of gangster Black Mask. The film is directed by Cathy Yan.
