Funimation Issues Statement Regarding Vic Mignogna’s Removal from Morose Monokean II

Funimation issued a statement that they have recast voice actor Vic Mignogna in Morose Monokean II following an investigation. They also indicate they will not be working with him in the future. We previously reported that Mignogna was replaced by Ian Sinclair as the voice of the Executive of the Underworld after allegations of sexual misconduct.

Funimation took to Twitter to announce Mignogna’s removal from the show.

“Everyone, we wanted to give you an update on the Vic Mignogna situation. Following an investigation, Funimation recast Vic Mignogna in Morose Monokean Season 2. Funimation will not be engaging Mignogna in future productions.”

Funimation would add:

“Part of our core mission is to celebrate the diversity of the anime community and to share our love for this genre and its positive impact on all. We do not any kind of harassment or threatening behavior being directed at anyone.”

They would clarify that they “do not condone harassment of threatening behavior being directed at anyone.”

Funimation’s announcement comes after new allegations made by Jamie Marchi on February 8th. Mignogna responded to the allegations writing on Twitter, “There are always two sides to every story.”

Mignogna denied previous allegations both in a statement posted on Twitter as well as at an appearance at Bak-Anime 2019.

What do you make of this decision by Funimation to recast Mignogna for Morose Monokean II and note they will not work with him in the future? Future projects that most assuredly would have seen Mignogna return to his role as Broly following the success of Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Did Funimation make the right decision?
