Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Film Announced – First Images Revealed!

Batman is crossing over again with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time the iconic heroes will be showcased in an animated feature film.

Batman and the Ninja Turtles crossed paths, and swords, before in comic book form in issues published by IDW and DC. And this film is based on one of those crossovers — [easyazon_link identifier=”1401280714″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]a 2015 miniseries by Freddie Williams II and James Tynion IV[/easyazon_link].

DC Comics revealed the first look at the animated feature, which shows Batman firing off a number of Batarangs at the Turtles.

Here’s a better look:

Along with this image of Batman and the Turtles SyFy Wire showcased two other images. The first showcases Batman with Batgirl and Robin alongside the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The second is a close-up of Raphael.

SyFy Wire also provides a brief synopsis for the animated feature:

“The film will see the turtles meeting Batman and feature our heroes teaming up to face Batman’s deadly rogues gallery.”

But as you can tell from the first image, Batman will take on the pizza munching Heroes in a Half-Shell first after an interdimensional portal opens up.

Also along for the ride are Robin and Batgirl as they take on Joker & Harley Quinn, Penguin, Bane, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and Ras al- Ghul. As awesome as a slugfest between the Caped Crusader and Shredder would be, it seems as though the perennial Turtles foil won’t make an appearance, or they are keeping him a close secret. Shredder played a key role in the first Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mini-series.

The voice cast is accomplished and dynamic. Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Batman: Arkham Origins), Darren Criss (The Assassination of Gianni Versace), Kyle Mooney (Saturday Night Live), Baron Vaughn (Grace and Frankie), Eric Bauza, Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Tom Kenny (Spongebob Squarepants), John DiMaggio (Adventure Time), Tara Strong, Carlos Alazraqui, and Cas Anvar will supply their vocal talents.

Baker returns as the voice of Batman and also pulls double-duty as the Joker. Strong also works in dual roles: Harley and Ivy. And Alazraqui is stepping back into cartoon action as Bane.

Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles should land on home release for digital streaming video and Blu-ray later this year. Little mention has been made if it will wind up on DC Universe, but if Reign of the Supermen and Justice League vs. The Fatal Five are any indication, the feature ought to find a home there.
