Avengers: Endgame Director Joe Russo Reveals Stan Lee’s Last Cameo Could Be In Endgame

Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo revealed he believes Stan Lee’s final Marvel Cinematic Universe cameo is in Avengers: Endgame.

Pink Villa notes Russo revealed Lee’s possible final cameo while promoting Endgame in India:

“I believe that his (Stan Lee) final cameo is in Endgame. I don’t remember if he was well enough to do the cameo in Spiderman homecoming. But it was incredible to work with him.”

Russo would also praise Lee at the event:

“I grew up on his comic books. Stan Lee was an idol of mine as a kid. To be able to have the opportunity to not only to work under the material he created but to work with him is a childhood dream come true.”

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige had previously indicated that Stan Lee would have another cameo following Captain Marvel.

Feige discussed what it felt like with Stan on set and revealed he would have another cameo in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie:

“It became a national holiday when he was around on set, up through this movie and an upcoming one as well.”

However, it’s still possible for Lee to have cameos in multiple MCU films going forward. Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson spoke to EW about how they filmed multiple Stan Lee cameos at once, “It’s a big deal for a 93-year-old man to go to a movie set and spend a day shooting.” He would add,  “James [Gunn] shot four cameos with Stan in one day. James was texting me the frame. Does this look right? Does this look good?”

In fact, Joe Russo confirmed last April that they had a similar approach to Lee’s cameos when he spoke to BBC Radio Scotland:

“Stan, typically we try to get him out — he doesn’t love to fly — so we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time. So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we’re on, for instance Ant-Man [and the Wasp] or Avengers 4, we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and get him through his cameos in one day.”

It’s quite possible that Lee might have a cameo in both Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Homecoming. One thing appears clear is that he has a cameo in Avengers: Endgame.
