Joker Director Todd Phillips Reveals First Poster – Announces Trailer Will Drop Tomorrow

Joker director Todd Phillips revealed the first poster for the upcoming DC Comics based film starring Joaquin Phoenix on his Instagram.

Take a look.

As  you can see in the poster the film’s got a very Joker-esque tagline, “Put On A Happy Face.”

Not only did Phillips reveal the first poster, but he also indicated that a teaser trailer for the film will drop tomorrow.

Marc Maron, who stars in the movie, spoke to NME about what we can expect from Todd Phillips vision:

“The approach that Todd Phillips has taken is more of an origin story and a character study of a mentally ill person that becomes The Joker. It’s more of an intimate and gritty movie with a very specific scope. It’s going to be really interesting to see how it comes out.”

Phoenix , who plays the Joker, had previously described the film as thus:

“It feels unique, it is its own world in some ways, and maybe, mostly, it scares the f***ing s**t out of me or something. It might as well be the thing that scares you the most.”

However, in an interview back in January, Zazie Beetz who is expected to be Phoenix’s love interest in the story indicated that the entire script had been rewritten while they were shooting the film, “The script was great. We rewrote the whole thing while we were shooting it.” She would add, “Literally, we would go into Todd’s trailer and write the scene for the night and then do it.”

Joker hits theaters on October 4, 2019. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, Marc Maron, Douglas Hodge, Brett Cullen, and Penny Fleck.

Are you excited for the teaser trailer tomorrow? What do you think of the Joker poster?
