Shazam! Surpasses Expectations – Has $53M Opening Weekend!

David F. Sandberg, Zachary Levi, and Asher Angel’s Shazam! surpassed expectations at the domestic box office opening to $53.4 million.

The film was expected to bring in $45 million at the domestic box office on opening weekend and $150 million overall. It already surpassed the opening weekend mark by almost $10 million and is well on its way to beating the overall domestic gross mark.

Not only did Shazam! bring in $53.4 million at the domestic box office in its opening weekend, but it’s already grossed $102 million at the foreign box office. The movie currently has brought in $158.7 million worldwide.

And people are celebrating the rousing success of the movie’s opening weekend.

Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot wrote on Twitter, “SHAZAMING the world!!!! Congratulations on opening weekend! This movie is so fun, you all need to see it!”

Levi would respond writing, “Shawty, you da best!”

Director David F. Sandberg let a fan do the talking for him!

While Gadot, Levi, and Sandberg are celebrating the film’s opening success fans are lauding the movie as well. The film currently has a 90% Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score. It has an 8.1 User Score on Metacritic.
