The Addams Family official teaser trailer just dropped.

Check it out!

The Addams Family will return to the big screen in a new animated comedy featuring the voice talents of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler and Allison Janney.

Here’s the official description:

“Get ready to snap your fingers! The Addams Family is back on the big screen in the first animated comedy about this creepy and kooky clan. You may think your family is weird but the outlandish, bizarre, and completely iconic Addams Family, will have you thinking again.”

The movie is directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan.

The Addams Family was originally conceived by cartoonist Charles Addams and the family appeared in 150-single panel cartoons of which half were published in The New Yorker.

Addams described his characters in [easyazon_link identifier=”0764953885″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]The Addams Family: An Evilution[/easyazon_link]:

“Gomez and Pugsley are enthusiastic. Morticia is even in disposition, muted, witty, sometimes deadly. Grandma Frump is foolishly good-natured. Wednesday is her mother’s daughter. A closely knit family, the real head being Morticia—although each of the others is a definite character—except for Grandma, who is easily led. Many of the troubles they have as a family are due to Grandma’s fumbling, weak character. The house is a wreck, of course, but this is a house-proud family just the same and every trap door is in good repair. Money is no problem.”

The cartoons would go on to be adapted into a live-action television series in 1964 starring John Astin and Carolyn Jones that premiered on ABC. The show would inspire a 1977 television film.

This isn’t the first animated version of the Addams Family, an animated series based on the family aired in 1973. There would then be two live-action films made in the 1990s. The Addams Family and Addams Family Values starred Anjelica Huston, Raúl Juliá, Christina Ricci, Christopher Lloyd, and Joan Cusack.

Following the success of the live-action films, another animated series debuted from 1992 to 1993. In 1998, a direct-to-video Addams Family movie was created starring Tim Curry and Daryl Hannah. It would spin-off into a short-lived live-action television series.

In 2008, a live musical adaptation for Broadway was created starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth.

Now, we have a brand new animated feature film. What do you think about this teaser? Does it capture the classic Addams Family? Are you looking forward to it?
