Brie Larson’s Unicorn Store Rotten Tomatoes Score is ABYSMAL

Brie Larson’s directorial debut in Unicorn Store has an absolutely abysmal Rotten Tomatoes score.

The film, which stars Samuel L. Jackson, Joan Cusack, Bradley Whitford, Martha MacIsaac, and Karan Soni, has a 58% Tomatometer score from critics. However, it has a 36% Audience Score.

The film doesn’t fare any better on MetaCritic. In fact, it has an even worse Metascore at 44. The User Score is in the bottom of the dumpster with a 2.4.

Larson’s Unicorn Store trailer was openly criticized by a Twitter user named Joe Gil, who described the trailer as “bleh” and suggested that Brie Larson take “notes from Jonah Hill, who was mentored by Martin Scorsese, and took years before he made hi directorial debut out of respect for the artistry of film and the position of director.”

Gil would add, “This seems like she’s just riding Captain Marvel’s wave.”

In response to this minor criticism, Netflix responded with a list of Larson’s accomplishments in Hollywood.

Larson would praise Netflix’s response to Joe Gil describing it as “NETFLEX.”

Despite, Larson’s gloating of Netflx’s call out of Joe Gil, it doesn’t appear to have actually improved her Unicorn Store movie which has been roundly rejected by both critics and audiences.

In fact, Refinery29 reports Larson’s Unicorn Store actually debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017. The film “was left in limbo without distribution until Netflix picked it up in January.”

The film would then be released on Netflix on April 5th, just a month after Disney released Captain Marvel. It’s possible Joe Gil was onto something when he noted the film was just trying to ride Captain Marvel’s wave.
