Donald Trump Campaign Video That Used Dark Knight Rises Music Removed From Twitter

A re-election campaign video for President Donald Trump was removed from Twitter after Warner Bros. stated they were pursuing legal action.

The two minute campaign video featured music from Hans Zimmer’s “Why Do We Fall” along with the font from the film’s title card. The song is featured in Christopher Nolans’ Dark Knight Rises film.

Variety reports the video stated, ““First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they call you a racist. Donald J. Trump. Your vote. Proved them all wrong. Trump: The Great Victory. 2020,” using the “Dark Knight Rises” font.”

A Warner Bros. spokesperson had previously stated, “The use of Warner Bros.’ score from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in the campaign video was unauthorized. We are working through the appropriate legal channels to have it removed.”

The video also compared the rise of Donald Trump to the presidency with the actions and performances of many people. Of course, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were in the fray, but the video also took shots at some well known anti-Trump Hollywood personalities such as Amy Schumer and Rosie O’Donnell.

As many fans and detractors of the President know, he enjoys using pop culture references and memes to promote himself on social media.

For example, last year he tweeted a Game of Thrones style meme that told the nation of Iran that due to their nuclear ambitions that “Sanctions are Coming.”

According to CNBC, HBO wasn’t too happy with the use of their imagery for political purposes. They released a statement that read: “We were not aware of this messaging and would prefer our trademark not be misappropriated for political purposes.”

Trump and his allies openly use memes to communicate.

In fact, CNN’s Brian Stelter was even turned into one after discussing the use of Trump’s memes earlier this month.

What do you make of Warner Bros. taking legal action to have the campaign video removed? Do you think this will just cause more people to want to see the video?
