**Update** After publishing this article, Marvel.com updated their story with the following statement:

“Our bad! Looks like in our excitement at seeing Captain Marvel with the Avengers we misheard this one. Thanks to the astute fans who pointed this out for keeping us on our toes. Let’s try this again…”

They backtracked on the idea that Thanos used the Infinity Stones to “bring everyone back.”

Original article continues:

In one of the latest trailers for Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, a line of dialogue from Captain Marvel indicates that Thanos has brought a number of people back after snapping them out of existence.

Marvel.com (Archive link: http://archive.is/UHspF) confirmed Thanos brought a number of individuals back writing, “supposedly, Thanos used the stones to ‘bring everyone back.'” However, they question, “Who he brought back? Outlook not clear.”

In the recent clip seen above, where the Avengers are planning their attack on Thanos, Black Widow states, “He used the stones again.” A few seconds later, Captain Marvel chimes in, “So, let’s get them. He used them to bring everyone back.”

When I first watched the clip, I thought that Captain Marvel had actually stated, “So, let’s get them. And use them to bring everyone back.”

However, Marvel.com indicates Thanos actually used the stones to bring everyone back. They specifically point to Captain Marvel’s quote from the trailer.

If this is true, it definitely changes my entire interpretation of the trailer. Black Widow’s initial statement might actually be confirming that Thanos snapped his fingers again to bring a number of individuals back. In fact, the digital map she is looking at might be showing an increase in population from Thanos’ use of the Infinity Stones.

However, it would be odd for the Avengers to have such technology given Captain America, Nick Fury, and Black Widow spent an entire movie in Captain America: The Winter Soldier to prevent that kind of technology from being deployed Hydra to eliminate people across the world.

Widow states later in the clip, “Even if there is a small chance we can undo this, we owe it to everyone not in this room to try.” That statement could also confirm that Thanos brought a number of the Avengers back, but they might be held hostage by Thanos or somehow unreachable at the moment, which might also indicate a separate dimension.

What do you make of Marvel’s confirmation that Thanos used the Infinity Stones to bring a number of people back?
