New The Seven Deadly Sins Anime Announced by Studio DEEN

Anime production company Studio DEEN announced they will be creating a new The Seven Deadly Sins anime.

The new anime series will be based on Nakaba Suzuki’s The Seven Deadly Sins manga, Nanatsu no Taizai: Kamigami no Gekirin or The Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath of the Gods. The manga is still being published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. It first appeared in 2012.

The series will see the Seven Deadly Sins continue their fight against the Ten Commandments as they work to free Britannia from demonic influence. The series promises to head towards a climax and will finally reveal the secrets of the world.

Studio DEEN will take over from A-1 pictures who produced the previous series and movie. Susumu Nishizawa will direct the new anime. Nishizawa will be joined by Rintarou Ikeda, who will handle the series composition. Composers include Takafumi Wada, Hiroyuki Sawano, and Kohta Yamamoto. Rie Nishino is in charge of “animation character setting.”

The new series will see much of the main cast return. Yuuki Kaji returns as Meliodas, Sora Amamiya voices Elizabeth, Misaki Kuno is Hawk, Aoi Yūki returns as Diane, Tatsuhisa Suzuki voices Ban, Jun Fukuyama is King, Yuuhei Takagi will be Gowther, Maaya Sakamoto voices Merlin, and Tomokazu Sugita is Escanor.

The Seven Deadly Sins has grown to be a strong franchise with multiple television series as well as feature films. The series would stream on Netflix and later be released by Funimation to home video.

There would a four episode series titled The Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War which released in 2016. In 2018, The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments would be released.

Netflix would also release The Seven Deadly Sins: Prisoners of the Sky in 2018, which is a full length feature film.

The new series is expected to debut in the Fall.
