Game Of Thrones’ Iain Glen To Be Next Bruce Wayne

Game of Thrones’ Iain Glen will be the next live-action Bruce Wayne in the DC Universe’s Titans television show.

DC Universe made the announcement via Twitter.

The producers indicate Glen will portray an older version of Bruce Wayne:

“After decades of fighting crime as Batman, billionaire Bruce Wayne is just as driven to protect Gotham from evil as he was in his prime. Needing to reconcile his relationship with Dick Grayson, the duo hope to forge a new dynamic as Bruce tries to help his former sidekick and the Titans achieve success.”

Glen played Jorah Mormont on Game of Thrones and will return to the role when it airs this Sunday with the premiere of Season 8 on HBO. Glen is no stranger to comic book roles. He played Uncle Ralph in Kick-Ass 2. He’s also been part of a number of video game franchises. He played Manfred Powell in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Dr. Isaacs in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

It’s a little unclear if Glen will don the cape and cowl of Batman during the second season of Titans. The season 1 finale of Titans did showcase Batman. DC Universe does provide some hope that Glen might put on the cowl. They state:

“The show’s first season finale, “Dick Grayson,” featured a guest appearance by none other than the Batman himself. Of course the episode didn’t show viewers the man behind the mask. Well, get ready, Batfans. Because all that changes with Titans’ second season — in which billionaire playboy crimefighter Bruce Wayne will be played by actor Iain Glen.  “

The version of Batman seen in the Season 1 finale was in fact an alternate-reality created by the demon Trigon.

The Titans television series follows Dick Grayson, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy. Given previous casting announcement for the show, it looks like the second season will see the Titans face off against Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke. Esai Morales was cast in the role alongside YouTuber Chella Mann, who will play Deathstroke’s son Jericho.
