At Star Wars Celebration Chicago, creator Jon Favreau alongside director Dave Filoni, and actors Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, and Carl Weathers revealed first looks at Carano and Weathers’ characters.

Favreau describes Pascal’s character, “He’s a bounty hunter, and a gun fighter, and a hired gun.” Pascal would add, “The Mandalorian is a mysterious, lone, gun fighter in the Outer Reaches of the galaxy. Some might say he has questionable moral character, which is in line with some of our best Westerns and some good Samurai. All the good stuff. And he’s a badass.” Pascal would add, “He’s got a lot of Clint Eastwood in him.”

Cara Dune

Following discussion of Pascal’s The Mandalorian, Favreau would introduce Carano’s character as Cara Dune.

Carano would go on to provide some details about the character, “My character’s name is Cara Dune. She’s an ex-Rebel Shock Trooper.” She would add, “I’m a bit of a loner, which isn’t a far stretch. And I’m having a bit of trouble reintegrating myself into society.”

Favreau then introduces Carl Weathers, who is playing Greef Carga. Weathers describes Carga, “The character is Greef Carga. He is a guy who is running this group of bounty hunters. He is kind of the head of this guild of bounty hunters.”

Weathers goes into detail on what role Carga will play, “He’s looking for someone to go after a product he wants to bring to a client that’s worth a lot and that’s very valuable. And guess who he finds? He finds a bounty named Mandalorian and the Mando is a guy he figures who can get the job done. So he hires this guy and sends him out there. And the Mando does what needs to be done.
