Report: Solo: A Star Wars Story Actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge Tapped For Rewrites on James Bond Movie

Solo: A Star Wars actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who played the robot L3-37, has reportedly been tapped to work on rewrites for the next James Bond movie.

The Guardian reports Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been brought on board the James Bond film to introduce “more humour and the offbeat style of writing she is best known for.” Waller-Bridge is the creator of the BBC Show Fleabag and Killing Eve.

She was reportedly approached by none other than Daniel Craig to make adjustments to the script while she was performing in a stage version of Fleabag in New York.

The next Bond film has been plagued with problems. Director Danny Boyle was brought in alongside John Hodge as screenwriter in 2017. However, Boyle would leave the film. They would replace Boyle with director Cary Joji Fukunaga. They also brought on board writers Neil Purvis and Robert Wade to re-work Hodge’s initial script.

The troubles would not end there. In February, Scott Z Burns, the Bourne Ultimatum writer was brought in board. And now, they’ve added Phoebe Waller-Bridge. With all the problems with the script, production on the film has been delayed. It was originally scheduled to begin in December of 2018.

With the delays in the script and subsequently production, the release date for the film has been pushed back to April 8, 2020.

The film is expected to see a number of the current cast return including Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q, and Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann. Rumors indicate that Bohemian Rhaspdody star Rami Malek could be the next Bond villain.

Collider reports that Malek’s rumored villain might be a blind man from North Africa. They also report that Lupita Nyong’o is being eyed for a role in the franchise.
