Netflix Announces When The Witcher Starring Henry Cavill Will Be Released

Netflix announced a time frame for when The Witcher starring Henry Cavill will hit the streaming service.

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos indicated the series will debut in Netflix’s fourth quarter which is anywhere between October and December.

Sarandos was answering a question on Netflix’s Q1 2019 Earnings Call about content scheduling when he revealed The Witcher would come out in the fourth quarter.

“Well, definitely in the third quarter we’ve got new episodes and new seasons of some of our most loved and most watched shows on Netflix, Stranger Things, Casa de Papel, Orange Is the New Black, 13 Reasons Why, Elite, which is a big hit for us right out of Spain, a new season from Ryan Murphy of The Politician, a brand new show on Netflix that we think our audiences are going to love.”

Sarandos would then reveal when The Witcher would debut:

“And then you start seeing later in the fourth quarter some of our bigger film investments coming through like Irishman, like 6 Underground and also a big new original series that we’re currently shooting in Hungary called The Witcher, that is enormous European IP, very popular game and Book IP, that we think is going to make a really fun global series.”

Netflix has currently been filming The Witcher in Hungary as Sheridan notes. Cavill has been hitting the gym hard while filming the role.

Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich also provided fans with a glimpse at The Witcher set back in March alongside her cat.

The Witcher stars Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Anna Shaffer as Triss, and Lars Mikkelsen as Stegobor.
