Report: Chris Hemsworth Will Return to Thor for MCU Phase 4

A new report indicates that Chris Hemsworth will return to Thor for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The report comes from The Hollywood Reporter who indicate Hemsworth renegotiated his salary with Marvel Studios in order to prepare for Phase 4.
THR reports:
“Chris Hemsworth, i.e. Thor, who signed with Marvel for five movies in 2010, then renegotiated in 2017 for Infinity War and Endgame, putting himself in the $15 million to $20 million range and ready for the next phase of films.”
Hemsworth has also openly talked about doing a fourth Thor film, and Avengers: Endgame left the door wide open for future Thor movies.
In Avengers: Endgame, Thor survived the final battle with Thanos, and eventually passed down leadership of the Asgardian people to Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie. When asked what he planned to do, Thor’s answer was noncommittal. It left the door wide open for a number of new Thor adventures.
Not only did Avengers: Endgame leave the door open for more Thor adventures, but Hemsworth discussed plans for a fourth Thor film back in January of 2018.
Hemsworth discussed his New Year’s celebrations and hinted he had already had discussions about a fourth Thor film with Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.
“We gave cheers … a few times. To Thor 3, but it also was like, ‘What could we do with four? We could do this and this.’ We were throwing ideas around.” Hemsworth added, “I felt like we re-invented him. There is a bigger platform now to continue if we want to.”
In fact, Hemsworth has also had discussions with Kevin Feige about Thor 4.
“(Feige) said, ‘Look, we just have to concentrate on (Avengers) now. So who knows? There are 76 cast members in these two Avengers films. They will be the biggest films of all time, far bigger than my character. It’s a conversation for further down the road, if it was going to happen.”
However, in his interview with USA Today, Hemsworth contradicts the most recent reporting by THR. He told USA Today that his contract was over after Avengers: Endgame, “Contractually, right now — yeah, this is it. I’m done. I won’t be playing the character again.” Now, it’s quite possible he might have been in contract negotiations with Marvel Studios following Thor: Ragnarok and he didn’t want to discuss it publicly, but he made it clear his contract was over in 2018.
Meanwhile Hemsworth is branching out from the MCU. He will star in the upcoming Men in Black: International. He’s also working on a Hulk Hogan biopic as well as the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. He also has a movie called Dhaka, which was written by Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo.
