Dark Knight Writer David S. Goyer Attached to New “Evolved Reimagining” of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser!

Dark Knight writer David S. Goyer is attached to a new Hellraiser film from Spyglass Media Group.
The new Hellraiser film was announced by Gary Barber the head of Spyglass Media Group. He described the film as a “loyal, yet evolved reimagining” of the original 1987 film from writer and director Clive Barker. The film was based on Barker’s novella “The Hellbound Heart.” The novella and film would spawn a franchise that includes nine other movies, multiple graphic novels, and much, much more.
Barber discussed his relationship with Barker as well as Goyer’s plans for the “reimagining.”
“Clive and I go back more than 30 years together. For generations, his brilliantly twisted and imaginative ‘Hellraiser’ haunted the minds of moviegoers with its searing imagery of Pinhead. David is the perfect storyteller to continue Clive’s vision for a new theatrical version of ‘Hellraiser.’”
Goyer, not only penned The Dark Knight, but also Man of Steel, added, “I’ve been a fan of Clive’s work since the original Books of Blood paperbacks and ‘The Hellbound Heart’ novella. Having the chance to reimagine Pinhead and the Cenobites for a new audience is a nightmare-come-true. Gary is a true fan as well and we’re committed to making something dark and visceral.”
In fact, Goyer has a multitude of comic book movie writing credits to his name. He wrote multiple episodes of Constantine, Blade, Blade II, Blade: Trinity, Batman Begins, Blade: The Series, The Dark Knight, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He also wrote the recent Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series first episode, Terminator: Dark Fate, and the upcoming The Sandman.
This new Hellraiser announcement comes on the heels of the wild success of numerous horror film franchise revivals that include Stephen King’s It, [easyazon_link identifier=”B07JDXGJ9Z” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Halloween[/easyazon_link], Suspira, Jacob’s Ladder, and Pet Sematary. Other reboots that are on the way include Child’s Play and Grudge.
