Hellboy and Resident Evil Actress Milla Jovovich Details “Horrific” and “Nightmare” Abortion Experience

Hellboy and Resident Evil actress Milla Jovovich took to Instagram to detail her “horrific” abortion experience.

Jovovich detailed that she was speaking about her experience in response to the Georgia heartbeat bill that was signed into law by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.

The bill had faced intense pressure from other Hollywood celebrities led by Alyssa Milano, who called for Hollywood to boycott the entire state.

Milano would be joined by a number of Avengers: Endgame actors including Tessa Thompson, Mark Ruffalo, and Don Cheadle.

Jovovich wrote:

“Our rights as women to obtain safe abortions by experienced doctors are again at stake. Last Tuesday, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed a draconian bill into law that outlaws all abortions after six weeks — before most women even realize they’re pregnant — including in cases of RAPE OR INCEST.”

She would then detail that she had an “emergency abortion 2 years ago.”

“Abortion is hard enough for women on an emotional level without having to go through it in potentially unsafe and unsanitary conditions. I myself went through an emergency abortion 2 years ago. I was 4 1/2 months pregnant and shooting on location in Eastern Europe. I went into pre term labor and told that I had to be awake for the whole procedure.”

Jovovich described it as “one of the most horrific experiences I have ever gone through.” She added, “I still have nightmares about it. I was alone and helpless.”

She elaborated on just how awful the abortion experience was for her describing it as a “personal hell.”

“I spiraled into one of the worst depressions of my life and had to work extremely hard to find my way out. I took time off of my career. I isolated myself for months and had to keep a strong face for my two amazing kids.”

Jovovich continued:

“I started gardening, eating healthier and going to the gym everyday because I didn’t want to jump into taking anti depressants unless I had tried every other alternative. Thank God I was able to find my way out of that personal hell without turning to medication, but the memory of what I went through and what I lost will be with me till the day I die.”

She goes on to describe abortion as a “nightmare.”

“Abortion is a nightmare at its best. No woman wants to go through that.”

She concluded by stating “we have to fight to make sure our rights are preserved.”

“But we have to fight to make sure our rights are preserved to obtain a safe one if we need to. I never wanted to speak about this experience. But I cannot remain silent when so much is at stake. #prochoice#prochoicegeneration”

Jovovich isn’t the only actress to weigh in on the Georgia heartbeat bill. Westworld actress Evan Rachel Wood called for “mandatory vasectemies” after the bill was signed into law. Alyssa Milano also called for a sex strike.

Dean Cain previously responded to Milano’s call for a boycott of the state of Georgia describing her behavior as “bullying.”  He would also describe her behavior as “wrong.”

“Whether or not you agree with the bill or not, to come in and try to bully somebody, a state into your position is just absolutely wrong.”

Cain would appear on Fox and Friends earlier this week where he described the boycott as an “absolute joke.”

Cain stated, “Hollywood pretending to be the bastion of moral superiority is an absolute joke, because Hollywood is not by any stretch of the imagination.”

Milla Jovovich can currently be seen in theaters playing Nimue the Blood Queen in Hellboy. She will appear in the upcoming Monster Hunter film as Artemis.
