DC Universe Drops Brand New Horror-Filled Swamp Thing Trailer – The Best One Yet!

DC Universe released a brand new horror-filled Swamp Thing trailer that might just be their best one yet!

Take a look.

The show is expected to delve into Swamp Thing’s horror roots. Producer James Wan, known for his horror films and Aquaman, noted the show will “lean more into the Gothic horror/romance aspect” of Swamp Thing.

Wan added, “It’s a human story. Basically, it’s Beauty and the Beast. It’s about this guy struggling to find his humanity as he’s transforming and becoming more and more of a monster.”

The trailer definitely hints that will be the case as we get a ton of horror-filled mystery as Doctor Abby Arcane begins investigating a disease coming out of the swamp that has infected a number of citizens. However, we also get a little bit of romance between Alec Holland and Abby Arcane throughout the trailer.

Initial reactions to the first episode have been extremely positive. Swamp Thing Radio teased fans that they need to “get ready to be blown away. It’s anxiety inducing. It’s freakin’ awesome. I cannot WAIT for episode 2.” They even called on DC Universe to renew the show after only seeing the first episode.

The show was originally scheduled to have 13 episodes for the first season, but was shortened to 10 episodes.

Here’s the official description for Swamp Thing:

“SWAMP THING follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.”

The television show is based off of Swamp Thing created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson.

The show stars Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp Thing, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, and Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne.

Swamp Thing arrives on DC Universe on May 31st.
