Rumor: Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel Cut from Vormir Scene in Avengers: Endgame

A number of photos surfaced from the Captain Marvel Digital HD version that have a number of people believing that Marvel Studios cut Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel from an Avengers: Endgame scene on Vormir.
The rumor was sparked by Twitter user @Msdamnvers who posted the photos to Twitter and stated, “so youre telling me that carol was on vormir?? youre telling me that nat was originally in the final battle??? youre telling me that there was a possibility of them both surviving endgame, but the russos changed the script?????”

As Cosmic Book News notes Captain Marvel director Ryan Fleck is seen in one of the photos and it could more than likely just be a costume test using the Vormir set as a background.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige told ComicBook that they did test Captain Marvel’s costume on the set of Avengers: Endgame:
“We had the first full costume fitting with Brie Larson on the set of Avengers: Endgame, and just stepping into the little tent on set where we hide – because we don’t want many people to see – it was astounding. Seeing that character that we’ve been working on for years, that we’ve been dreaming about even longer than that, seeing her standing in front of us for the first time, in real life – it’s incredible. It’s an amazing start for the adventure that lies ahead.”
However, Avengers: Endgame writer Stephen McFeeley told the New York Times that there was an outline of Clint Barton sacrificing himself instead of Black Widow on Vormir.
“There was, for sure. Jen Underdahl, our visual effects producer, read an outline or draft where Hawkeye goes over. And she goes, “Don’t you take this away from her.” I actually get emotional thinking about it.”
Fellow Endgame writer Christopher Markus added, “And it was true, it was him taking the hit for her. It was melodramatic to have him die and not get his family back. And it is only right and proper that she’s done.”
It’s possible there might have been another version of the scene on Vormir where Captain Marvel shows up. It’s possible she might have been on a patrol or something and noticed Hawkeye and Black Widow’s ship on Vormir and decided to check it out.
However, it’s more than likely this was just a costume test as the photo with Ryan Fleck seemingly confirms and as Kevin Feige noted back in March.
