Google Exec Jen Gennai Caught Admitting Company Is Taking Measures to Prevent “The Next Trump Situation”

A new video released by Project Veritas purports to show hidden camera footage of executives at Google discussing measures being taken by the tech giant to “prevent [the election of 2016] from happening again.”

On June 24th, the conservative investigative journalism group released a video, taken by a concealed camera, which shows Jen Gennai, the Head of Responsible Innovation, Global Affairs at Google discussing the behind-the-scenes manipulations which the company is facilitating in a bid to prevent an outcome in the upcoming 2020 US Presidential Elections similar to the results of the 2016 election, which saw Donald Trump elected to the Oval Office:

“Elizabeth Warren is saying we should break up Google. And like, I love her but she’s very misguided, like that will not make it better it will make it worse, because all these smaller companies who don’t have the same resources that we do will be charged with preventing the next Trump situation, it’s like a small company cannot do that.”

“We all got screwed over in 2016, again it wasn’t just us, it was, the people got screwed over, the news media got screwed over, like, everybody got screwed over so we’re rapidly been like, what happened there and how do we prevent it from happening again.”

According to Gennai, Google’s automated systems, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, are a specific point of concern for the company:

“We’re also training our algorithms, like, if 2016 happened again, would we have, would the outcome be different?”

“The reason we launched our A.I. principles is because people were not putting that line in the sand, that they were not saying what’s fair and what’s equitable so we’re like, well we are a big company, we’re going to say it.”

On the topic of “fairness,” Gennai admits that she is only concerned about fairness for “marginalized communities” rather than for those who have “traditionally been in power” and notes that not everyone has agreed with Google’s definition of ‘fairness’:

“My definition of fairness and bias specifically talks about historically marginalized communities. And that’s who I care about. Communities who are in power and have traditionally been in power are not who I’m solving fairness for.”

“Our definition of fairness is one of those things that we thought would be like, obvious, and everyone would agree to it and it wasn’t. There was, the same people who voted for the current president who do not agree with our definition of fairness.”

The video is part of a larger investigation into Google’s internal practices, an investigation which was prompted by an alleged whistleblower reaching out to Project Veritas to provide them with information and internal documents relating to Google’s data manipulation. While some remain skeptic due to the fact that the whistleblower has chosen to remain anonymous, the released documents have yet to be verified, andProject Veritas’ conservative and arguably overdramatic approach to the issue, the statements by Gennai recorded on video could have widespread ramifications regarding access to and dissemination of information for users across the internet

Google has not yet commented on either the published recordings or the general Project Veritas investigation.
