Marvel Changes Inscription on Thor’s Mjolnir

Marvel Comics continues to mess with the inscription on Thor’s Mjolnir. The latest change comes in War of the Realms #6 by Jason Aaron, Russell Dauterman, and Matthew Wilson.

The new inscription on Thor’s Mjolnir reads:

“Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of…Thor.”

Thor's Mjolnir

This is a brand new Mjolnir forged by Thor using the God Tempest. The original Mjolnir was destroyed when Jane Foster hurled the mighty weapon carrying Mangog into the center of the sun.

This isn’t the first time the inscription on Mjolnir has been changed by Marvel Comics. It was previously changed in Aaron’s Thor run back in 2014 when Jane Foster became Thor.

When Jane Foster picked up Mjolnir the inscription read:

“Whosoever holds this hammer, if she be worthy, shall possess the power of… Thor.”

Interestingly enough, in this instance the inscription was changed as soon as Jane Foster picked up the hammer. Earlier in Thor #1, the inscription was still the original one that debuted in Journey Into Mystery #83 back in 1962.

The original inscription reads:

“Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of…Thor.”
