Anaheim Police Department Confirms Viral Brawl At Disneyland Under Investigation

Disneyland, the Anaheim-based theme park, is going viral for all the wrong reasons. Over the Fourth of July weekend, a brawl that seemed to involve a set of two families erupted in Disneyland’s Toontown. The incident was caught on video and published on YouTube shortly afterward. Now, the altercation is being investigated by police.

In the video, you can see a number of people throwing punches at each other while their children are nearby.

El Paso’s Hanks High School football coach Jason Blair, who helped subdue one of the brawlers spoke to KFOX14 about the altercation. He first aided a woman who was knocked to the ground and had previously been on a motorized wheelchair. From there, he intervened when he saw the man punching another woman. He detailed that he and three other men subdued the man in the red shirt and even caused him to lose consciousness. When recalling the incident, he did question, “I didn’t understand why people were recording and not helping.”

After the man in the red shirt regained consciousness, Blair told KFOX14 that he was still in the mood to fight. Blair notes, “When the man regained consciousness, he kept asking, ‘Who choked me out?”

As to whether he would intervene again, Blair stated, “Without a doubt I would do it again. When something is not right you have to jump in.”

According to the NY Post, after Blair and the other men were able to break up the fight, those involved in the fight all walked away without being arrested. They were eventually escorted out of Disneyland by Disney’s security.

Disneyland issued a statement on Twitter regarding the incident and noted the Anaheim Police Department are conducting an investigation. The statement specifically condemned violence noting, “any type of violence is inexcusable and will not be tolerated.” They also indicated that “those involved were immediately removed from the premises and turned over to Anaheim PD.”

The Anaheim Police Department issued their own statement indicating that officers did respond to investigate. They note that “all parties were from the same family and were uncooperative.” They do indicate that while they were taking a report they did not have video at the time. However, now that they have video they will continue the investigation.
