Today’s cosplay of the day is Moonychka as Ariel from Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid animated film is based off the fairy tale, ‘The Little Mermaid” written by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The story was first published in 1837 as part of Fairy Tales Told for Children by C.A. Reitzel in Copenhagen. The story would be republished in 1849 as part of Fairy Tales and again in 1862 in the first volume of Fairy Tales and Stories.
Disney adapted Hans Christian Andersen’s story in The Little Mermaid in 1989. The film was written and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. It featured music by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman with art direction by Michael Peraza Jr. and Donald A. Towns.
The film featured the voice talents of Jodi Benson, Christopher Daniel Barnes, Pat Carroll, Samuel E. Wright, Jason Marin, Kenneth Mars, Buddy Hackett, and René Auberjonois.
Disney announced a live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid from director Rob Marshall in 2016. They recently announced that R&B singer Halle Bailey will take on the role of Ariel.
