Westworld Star Evan Rachel Wood Attacks Stranger Things’ Jim Hopper

Westworld actor Evan Rachel Wood took to Twitter to attack Stranger Things’ Hawkins Sheriff Jim Hopper.
Wood would write on Twitter, “You should never date a guy like the cop from Stranger Things. Extreme jealousy and violent rages are not flattering or sexy like TV would have you believe. That is all.”

Wood would add, “Yes I am aware its ‘just a show’ and its set ‘in the 80s’ even though this stuff was unacceptable then too, but thats exactly my point. Its just a show and this is a gentle reminder not to fall for this crap in real life. Red flags galore.”

Evan Rachel Wood’s must not have watched the same season 3 of Stranger Things that I watched.
**Warning Spoilers for Stranger Things Season 3 Below**
I can only assume that she sees Hopper being upset that Joyce stood him up for their date as “extreme jealousy.” It’s perfectly reasonable for Hopper to be upset that he got stood up. She said she was going to meet him at the restaurant and didn’t show up. And then after standing him up, she shows up at his house asking him for help! While Hopper makes it clear he was upset, he doesn’t get violent with Joyce. In fact, he actually ends up helping her out and they begin to track down the Russian conspiracy together. While he is justifiably upset, Hopper does not get “violent” with Joyce at all!
The other possibility of this “extreme jealousy” is his interactions with El and Mike. Hopper does not like the idea that El and Mike are basically spending every second of every minute with each other. I’m not a parent, but I am a son, and have a number of friends who are parents. This seems to be pretty typical behavior for parents of teenagers. They still want to be able to spend time with their kids and are somewhat melancholy they are starting to grow up and flee the roost. It’s probably double for Hopper since he lost his young daughter and El just recently came into life. He misses the breakfasts of Eggo with her.
Not only is this typical behavior of Hopper, but he’s also watching out for his daughter. He doesn’t know what Mike and El might be up to, and might be worried they might be progressing their relationship too fast. I personally cheered Hopper when decided to not use Joyce’s advice and put the fear of God into Mike and told him what’s what and gave him some much needed lessons surrounding respect. Hopper was being a protective parent, and there is nothing wrong with that.
What makes Wood’s comments all the more whacky is that Hopper acts like a responsible parent. He forbids the kids from helping them take on the Russians underneath Starcourt Mall. And on top of that like Billy, he sacrifices his life in order to ensure that his daughter, Joyce, the town of Hawkins, the United States, and the world are safe from the machinations of the Mindflayer. But before he sacrifices his life, he actually leads the Russians away from Joyce during the Independence Day festival. Jim Hopper is a hero.
Hopper does not show any signs of “extreme jealousy” and he doesn’t go into “violent rages” in Stranger Things Season 3. He’s a deep and interesting character that displays human emotions of rejection, fear, courage, and bravery.
