Zombies Invade Nintendo Switch This October As Resident Evil 5 And 6 Arrive On The Console

Gaming Studio Capcom has announced that Resident Evil, the wildly popular zombie survival horror franchise, will be making its way on to the Nintendo Switch with two new additions. Both Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 are set to be released on October 29th. Right on time for Halloween.

The additions of these games will bring Capcom’s contribution to the series up to seven games. Resident Evil Zero, Resident Evil, and Resident Evil 4, as well as both of the RE Revelations are currently available on the gaming console.

Resident Evil 5 – One of the Best Games

Considered to be one of the best games of the franchise, RE 5 was released in 2009 on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The game was highly rated by multiple outlets with Metacritic giving it a solid 84 for its Playstation release. IGN also praised the game as it gave it a 9 out of 10 score.

RE 6 was released in 2012 also on the same systems. Though the game was received well — it still wasn’t able to reach the popularity or heights of its predecessor. Unlike 5, the reviews varied greatly as Gamestop reviewed the game as “poor” with a 4.5 rating. They stated that “Resident Evil 6 is a mishmash of elements put together without any sense of care or direction.”

The Metacritic score was much kinder, sitting at 74, but the user score, 5.5, was mixed at best.

RE 5 on the Switch will come with both the Lost Nightmares and Desperate Escape expansions, Mercenaries United, No Mercy Mode, Versus mode. And, all of the costumes and figures that came with the original game.

RE 6 is also going to bring with it the weight of all of its original DLC’s included with purchase. Another fun addition is two costumes for each character in the game that players had to originally unlock through Residentevil.net.

With the additions of now seven of the RE games, it’s easy to believe that at some point the rest of the library from Capcom will at some point make its way on to the Nintendo Switch.

What do you think? Are you ready to take a spin down memory lane and fight off zombies and impossible odds?
