Report: Jamie Foxx Among Three Actors Rumored for Roles in The Batman

Casting rumors are heating up for The Batman. Now that director Matt Reeves has selected his Dark Knight in Robert Pattinson, he is in search of the rest of the ensemble. From what we’re hearing, much like the contentious process that narrowed who will wear the cape, three award-winning actors are in competition for a place in the movie.

Two-Face

The Geeks WorldWide dropped an exclusive that BlacKkKlansman star John David Washington, son of Denzel Washington, is under serious consideration for an undisclosed role in the Matt Reeves film. GWW says Harvey Dent is highly possible, and if The Batman is based on The Long Halloween, Dent will be in it. He might even turn into his bifurcated alter ego.

Billy Dee Williams was the first to play the Gotham District Attorney in a major motion picture in Tim Burton’s Batman (1989).

Washington will be in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet alongside Pattinson so he might have an in for The Batman afterward.

Riddle Me This

But, Washington is not alone. The GWW said earlier Reeves’ shortlist of actors for villains also includes Django and Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Jamie Foxx and Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito, also known for roles in Maze Runner: The Death Cure and upcoming ones in The Mandalorian and Stargirl. It’s not entirely certain what role Foxx and Esposito are up for or if it is even the same one. However, The Riddler came up.

Foxx is closely attached to Todd McFarlane’s long-gestating Spawn remake. Stuck in development with Blumhouse, it might never see the light of day so he could be free to join another comic franchise.

The potential casting of Washington, Foxx, and Esposito comes on the heels of speculation Hobbs & Shaw actress Vanessa Kirby was being vetted for Catwoman. No word on official talks has surfaced. In all the above cases, casting news is strictly rumor at this time.

We’ll find out who will star with Pattinson and what part they play when as the months tick closer to when The Batman releases on June 25, 2021. Among the reported villains are Catwoman, Riddler, Two-Face, and Firefly. Leading the pack (or flock) is The Penguin. Filming should get underway early next year, barring any further delays.

Do you want to see any of these names join The Batman? How about as either Riddler or Two-Face? Let us know.
