Daredevil Showrunner Steven DeKnight Tells Fan “F*** Off” In Response to Daredevil Suit Criticism

Netflix’s Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight told a fan to “F*** off” after they criticized the Daredevil suit seen on the show.

It all started when DeKnight took to Twitter to announce that he had purchased one of the Daredevil suits that were being auctioned off by the show.

DeKnight posted a photo on Twitter showing the suit he purchased. He added, “For those of you who don’t know, they’re auctioning off props from the Marvel Netflix shows today. And I’m happy to report that this bad boy is coming to live at the offices of DeKnight Productions, where it belongs!”

A Daredevil fan would respond to DeKnight’s tweet saying, “No that terrible reptilian fibreglass polymer travesty belongs in a dumpster fire or a Joel Schumacher film. This is what Daredevil looks like.” He included a photo from Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli’s iconic Born Again Daredevil story arc.

His mention of Joel Schumacher is in reference to 1997’s Batman & Robin film, whose suits have been routinely mocked by fandom for years. In fact, Schumacher even apologized for the film telling Vice, “I want to apologize to every fan that was disappointed because I think I owe them that.” He added, “A lot of it was my choice. No one is responsible for my mistakes but me.”

He would go on to explain his response writing, “Just to clarify for the media sites, I didn’t say “f*** off” to a fan for criticizing the Daredevil suit. I told a guy on the internet to “f*** off” for being a complete asshole.”

It appears DeKnight would also block the fan as Marco responded to another use who asked, “Did that rather insecure and hyper-sensitive Executive producer & showrunner (of the show that got cancelled) block me AND retweet me? I have no way of knowing.”

DeKnight would confirm he blocked Marco writing, “This is true. Criticism is fine. I engage all the time. But if someone wants to act like an asshole, they’ll get told to f*** off and get blocked. That s*** don’t fly with me.”

As for the actual auction, the props, clothes, and other paraphernalia from Netflix’s Daredevil were not cheap. The suit DeKnight purchased sold for $55,000 despite it only being valued between $30,000 and $50,000.
