Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey Reshoots to Remove Lewd Storyline and Tone Down Villain

Birds of Prey is experiencing difficulties and could be as troubled as previous entries in DC’s Extended Universe. Reshoots are underway to change some previously reported twists and unsavory elements. YouTube personality Grace Randolph reported changes are being made that amount to a “Rogue One situation.”

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was notoriously altered in post-production by an unsatisfied Disney. Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, 2014) maintained directing credit but writer Tony Gilroy supervised the post-production and Edwards’ entire vision was rejiggered. It cost the studio millions more than the initial budget.

Randolph offered the update when responding to a naysayer of her reporting. (Related: Birds of Prey Set Video Shows Black Canary and Victor Zsasz Chasing Down Cassandra Cain!)

The “d*ck picks” refer to a major plot point. Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) is on the run from Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) after swallowing a diamond that belongs to him. As precious as diamonds are, it’s the contents of the jewel that are more important to him. Inside the diamond is microfilm photos of Mask nude and showing off his private parts. This twist isn’t going over well due to its pedophilic nature. It doesn’t happen until the end, reportedly, but has an effect on the entire film, as does another aspect Warner Bros. is catching heat for. Randolph explains:

We reported that Ewan McGregor’s portrayal of Black Mask was going to be a sharp departure from the comics. He was supposed to be gay, making him the first LGBT character in the DCEU, and have affection for Zsasz. That sounds like it is getting walked back and Mask will be more in line with his early appearances. (Related: Rumor: Black Mask in Birds of Prey to Depart from Comics)

Reshoots are being overseen by stunt coordinator and John Wick director Chad Stahelski. He is adding action sequences and reportedly changing up the story too. Stahelski and his company worked on Deadpool 2. Birds of Prey is being accused of ripping off the Ryan Reynolds-led franchise.

In reply to someone saying they heard reshoots were strictly adding action, Randolph stated that is wrong:

In response to doubters saying reshoots are no big deal, Randolph shared a private exchange with her source who told her she’s been accurate about Birds of Prey’s woes. Plus major outlets are dismissing smaller bloggers as “CLOWNS.”
