He explained, “This doesn’t turn into a good guy universe because you blew up two Death Stars. You get that the Rebels won and they’re trying to establish a Republic, but there’s no way that could have set in for everybody all at once.”

“You have in a Western where you’re out on the frontier and there might be Washington and they might have some marshals, but sometimes good luck finding one,” he added.

Jon Favreau also hinted the series will explore the early days of the First Order.

He stated, “Also, what could happen in the 30 years between celebrating the defeat of the Empire and then the First Order? You come in on Episode VII, [the First Order are] not just starting out. They’re pretty far along.”

Favreau would add, “So somehow, things weren’t necessarily managed as well as they could have been if [the galaxy] ended up in hot water again like that.”

Entertainment Weekly speculates the early days of the First Order will revolve around Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon. They believe he will attempt to reunite the disconnected parts of the Empire and reforge them into the First Order.

Leaked footage of The Mandalorian from Star Wars Celebration showed Pedro Pascal’s The Mandalorian working with an Empire leader played by Warner Herzog. It’s unclear what kind of arrangement they might have, but it appeared Herzog hired him to hunt down an asset and return them alive. However, they also noted it was possible to bring in the asset dead, but at a reduced bounty.

Not only will the show explore the early days of the First Order, but it will also see The Mandalorian fighting a number of Trandoshans. Star Wars fans will recognize Trandoshans as the race of infamous bounty hunter Bossk.
