Donald Trump Responds to Debra Messing: “Will Fake News NBC Allow A McCarthy Style Racist to Continue?”

President Donald Trump responded to Will & Grace actress Debra Messing after she and her co-star Eric McCormack called on the media to out Trump supporters. McCormack even called for the list of attendees to be used as a Hollywood blacklist.

Trump took to Twitter to write, “Bad “actress” Debra The Mess Messing is in hot water. She wants to create a “Blacklist” of Trump supporters, & is being accused of McCarthyism. Is also being accused of being a Racist because of the terrible things she said about blacks and mental illness. If Roseanne Barr said what she did, even being on a much higher rated show, she would have been thrown off television.” Trump then questioned, “Will Fake News NBC allow a McCarthy style Racist to continue? ABC fired Roseanne. Watch the double standard!” (Related: Will & Grace Actress Debra Messing Calls On Media To Out Trump Supporters)

Trump’s tweets come after Messing endorsed an Alabama church’s sign that read “a black vote for Trump is mental illess” with the other side reading, “a white vote for Trump is pure racism.”

Actor and comedian Terrence K. Williams would call out Messing for his tweet saying, “You promoted a message saying that black Trump supporters have a mental illness. I am not mentally ill. Okay? Just because I can think for myself does not make me mentally ill. I have the right to vote for who I want to vote for. I have the right to think for myself.”

Messing would respond to Williams on Twitter writing, “I apologized for liking that church sign. I said I regret it. I shud have thought before recklessly supporting.” She would then add, “You won’t accept this but black people are targeted by Trump’s GOP for voter suppression. Charlottesville was about Trump supporters hating POC and Jews.”

She would continue:

“THAT is where my support of a sign at a southern black church came from. The use of the term “mentally ill” was wrong & hurtful.” Messing then stated, “I NEVER NOR WOULD I EVER call for a blacklist of anyone for any reason. The info is publicly available. I as a consumer want to know where MY money is going when I pay for entertainment. Just as you have the right to not watch W&G because I don’t support Trump, I have the right to not go see (pay for) a movie with someone supporting babies in cages. It is First Amendment. Information, Knowldege. That is how we make decisions whether to see a movie or whom to vote for. Transparency is needed. Again, the lists are available to the public. There is nothing threatening about asking politely for information.”

What do you make of President Donald Trump’s comments? Do you think Messing should be fired by NBC for her comments? What do you make of her comments in response to Terrence K. Williams?
