Rumor: Superman Actor Henry Cavill Met with Kevin Feige About a Role in the MCU

Henry Cavill took time away from Superman and DC to work on Netflix’s The Witcher series. News and rumors persist he will return to the red cape eventually but he may not be simply biding his time. Cavill could actually be looking for a bigger, better deal.
A Reddit rumor from a thread on the r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers page (described as “A dedicated community for discussion around leaks, spoilers, and news relating to the MCU”) claims Cavill met with Kevin Feige about a future role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The potential character was not mentioned and Cavill was actually one of many names dropped that might have met with Feige, including Ewan McGregor, Millie Bobby Brown, Keanu Reeves, Collin Farrell, and Jessica Chastain. Though he isn’t connected to him officially, or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for that matter, fans want to see Cavill in the guise of Adam Warlock. Boss Logic got in on that fantasy casting with his own artwork modeled after Cavill as Geralt in The Witcher. MarvelStudiosSpoilers’ post also said Lucas Till, Dacre Montgomery, and Zac Efron — the latter two being the odds-on favorites — had meetings with James Gunn concerning Adam Warlock and Guardians 3. One rumor held that Cavill was up for the part of US Agent John Walker but that ended up going to Wyatt Russell (Overlord) who will feature alongside Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in Disney+’s original series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. There are also rumors that the MCU will have Galactus and Doctor Doom as their next big bads. Both of those are major Fantastic Four players. Zack Snyder’s departure from Justice League put an end to the director’s planned trilogy and placed Henry Cavill’s status as Superman in limbo. Reports of Cavill quitting and of a contract dispute turned out to be false. Negotiations between his side and Warner Bros. were ongoing while plans for Man of Steel 2 went on hold.
Pitches for the story were rejected, including an idea by Cavill and Mission: Impossible — Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie, and Warner will probably wait on making more Superman movies until they finalize their new deal with JJ Abrams, who is rumored to be keen on rebooting the Man of Tomorrow and Green Lantern. A new actor will likely be sought, leaving Cavill free to pursue whatever project he wishes, especially with Marvel.
