Ewan McGregor Reveals Key Details About Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Series

Ewan McGregor recently revealed some massive details about his upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series.
Speaking with Men’s Journal, McGregor admitted he was lying about returning to play Obi-Wan Kenobi for four years.
“It’s a f****** massive relief. Because for four years, I’ve been having to lie to people about it.”
McGregor would also reveal when the story will take place, “The storyline sits between Episode III and Episode IV.”
He then added that Kenobi’s story arc will involve the slaughter of the Jedi after the Emperor enacted Order 66.
McGregor explains:
“The Jedi Order was falling apart. It will be interesting to take a character we know in a way and show him—Well, his arc will be quite interesting, I think, dealing with that the fact that all the Jedi were slaughtered with the end of Episode III. It’s quite something to get over.”
As we know, not all the Jedi were slaughtered during Order 66. Yoda survived and went into exile on Dagobah.
Kanan Jarrus, who was previously known as Caleb Dume, also survived and became a member of the Phoenix Cell during the beginnings of the Rebellion.
Ahsoka Tano would also survive Order 66 and confront her former master at the Sith temple on Malachor.
Nevertheless, Order 66 did eliminate much of the Jedi order and that loss would most definitely effect Kenobi as he more than likely trained and helped train many of them.
The discovery of the massacre of the younglings most definitely rocked Kenobi.
McGregor would also discuss that his character will become closer to the Alec Guinness version we saw in the original trilogy, “I want to get closer and closer to how Obi-Wan felt while Alec Guinness was playing him. I feel like I’m grayer and nearer him in age, so it’ll be easier to do that.”
Not only would he detail that the story will have a focus on the destruction of the Jedi order with Order 66, but he also revealed that the series will be six hour-long episodes although he told Men’s Journal, “I’m not allowed to tell you anything about it.”
When Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars announced the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+, Kennedy revealed that all the scripts were actually written:
“We are really close. We have all the scripts written. We are ready to start shooting next year. We could not be more excited. Can’t wait to start production.”
Men’s Journal reports the show will start shooting next summer.
