New first person shooter Chains of Fury that is inspired by Mike Mignola’s artwork is coming Nintendo Switch and PC in 2020.

The new shooter from Polish companies Art Games Studios S.A. and Cobble Games will feature a very unique art style that publisher Gaming Factory describes as “comic graphics.”

CEO of Cobble Games and the originator of the game Krzysztof Orzędowski explains the game’s unique visual look is inspired by Mike Mignola’s Hellboy artwork.

“Chains of Fury in a certain sense is a tribute to the old FPS’s for their uncompromising fun and graphic novels. Among the inspiration behind Chains of Fury, I can mention the cult comic series Lobo and Hellboy as well as drawings by Mike Mignola.”

Orzędowski adds, “The gameplay itself will be intensive, brutal and bloody but of course within the limits of the slightly grotesque comic convention.”

The game is aiming to combine the classic elements of shooters of the 1990s with modern shooters.

It will feature both single player and multiplayer options. The multiplayer option will also have a split-screen mode.

In the single player version, the game will tell the story of a bloodthirsty mercenary who inhabits a world with a “distorted version of the future.”

The game will also feature a destructive environment. Publisher Gaming Factory details that “at least 80 percent of the walls in a given level” will be able to be destroyed.

Not only will players be able to destroy the environment, but they note that the destruction will affect gameplay. They note that you can “pave a brand new way to complete a given level and use the environment to surprise enemies.”

There will also be secrets hidden with the destructible environment.

Art Games Studios S.A. CEO Jakub Bąk described the game:

“This will be a breath of fresh air in the FPS shooter segment. Chains of Fury in a unique way will combine the experiences known to players from games from years ago with contemporary and proven solutions. Hypnotizing comic stylistics and the wide possibilities to destroy the environment will allow players to finally receive a title that will certainly be remembered for a long time.”

Along with the destructible environment and unique comic visuals the game will also feature:

  • An expanded arsenal full of crazy weapons
  • 6 different worlds
  • Metal soundtrack
