Twitter Reacts To CM Punk’s Return to Television as Studio Analyst for FOX’s WWE Backstage

CM Punk, aka Phil Brooks, appears to have come full circle in his career.

The former Marvel Comics writer, actor, MMA fighter, and pro wrestling star made a shocking appearance on Fox’s WWE Backstage show last night.

Punk would enter the studio to his old WWE entrance theme, “Cult of Personality” by Living Colour.

He then looked into the camera and said, “It’s as simple as this. Just when they think they’ve got the answers, I change the culture. See you here next week.”

For now, Punk is under contract with Fox, as WWE Backstage is a Fox show.

The @WWEonFOX twitter account confirmed this:

The WWE twitter account retweeted it, and also confirmed Punk’s status on WWE.com.

It’s been rumored that both C.M. Punk and the WWE itself are open to a full return at some point.

In the short term, it appears that Punk is content with acting and being a studio analyst.

He stars recently released horror film Girl On the Third Floor, which currently has an 82 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and has gotten favorable feedback from critics.

Given his acting success, its logical that Phil Brooks will want more acting roles in the future.

His performance in Girl On the Third Floor really showcased an affinity for the craft, as he carried the movie well and had a great range.

The movie business aside, pro wrestling is still a hot commodity right now with television audiences.

AEW, WWE, NWA, and Impact are all putting out compelling entertainment, and it won’t be long until Brooks has a decision to make.

Odds are, C.M. Punk will make an in-ring return sooner rather than later.

It should be noted that if Punk does sign with WWE, it will likely be on a part time basis, similar to Brock Lesnar.
