Gal Gadot Throws Her Support Behind the Release of Justice League’s Snyder Cut

The #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign is growing more every day. One of the top trends on social media this weekend, it received a major boost spearheaded by Justice League and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot.

Sunday, Gadot posted to Twitter a black and white shot of herself on the set of Justice League sitting in an open van using the popular #ReleaseTheSnyderCut hashtag.

Her photo was followed two hours later by a tweet from Ben Affleck that simply shared the tag.

Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg, would also show his support.

Zack Snyder would retweet both Affleck and Gadot. He wrote, “This ancient Amazonian can’t be wrong” and “Neither can Batman” in separate posts.

Zack Snyder’s unreleased edit became the stuff of legend since the release of the Justice League movie two years ago. Some questioned the credibility of its existence but it has been attested to by Snyder’s son Eli, his cinematographer Fabian Wagner, and Aquaman star Jason Momoa.

Filmmaker and podcaster Kevin Smith notably talked up the Snyder Cut to Cinema Blend, confirming its existence whether or not it’s complete:

“I’ve not seen it firsthand. And also to be clear, I know Zack, but it’s not like ‘we’re f**king tight son!.’ That being said, I’ve spoken now to enough people at various levels in that production. There is a Snyder cut. For sure. That’s not a mythical beast. It exists. Now, it’s not a finished movie by any stretch of the imagination.”

Momoa is very vocal as of late telling media he’s seen the Cut and the public deserves to see it. As he said to MTV recently:

“I think the public needs to see it. I’m obviously indebted to Warner and DC and I don’t know how they feel about it, but as a fan, I’m very, very happy I got to see it.”

The #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign gained strength and visibility over the past year. Snyder stoked the fire with his routine Vero posts, and fans, in perhaps the biggest effort to get the word out, bought ad space on billboards promoting the release of the Snyder Cut outside San Diego Comic-Con.

Money was raised in the process for suicide awareness as a tribute to Zack Snyder’s daughter who took her own life in 2017. The tragedy led to Snyder’s departure from the project which Joss Whedon was hired to finish.

Justice League garnered $657.9 million on a $300 million budget after it came out. The film was deemed a disappointment but, according to the teaser months ago, it will make its way to HBO Max next year along with the rest of the DC film library.

If rumors are to be believed, the Snyder Cut may join the theatrical version on the service.
