Mark Hamill Reveals The Most Important Element of the Star Wars Experience

Star Wars legend and icon Mark Hamill revealed the most important element of the Star Wars experience following the world premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Hamill took to Twitter to write, “As the end is just around the corner, I’m thinking of the most important element in the Star Wars experience: the Fans.”

He then explains why fans are the most important part, “Their passion, support & unwavering loyalty over the years is astonishing.”

Hamill then thanks Star Wars fans, “Thank you #UPFs- You mean the world to me. I salute each & every one of you!”

If you were wondering what #UPFs stand for Hamill coined the hashtag back in 2013 revealing the acronym stands for “ultra-passionate-fans.”

Back in December 2017 while promoting The Last Jedi, Hamill would appear on Late Night with Stephen Colbert to describe UPFs.

He stated, “What I find more inspiring is the reaction of the fans, the people that love it. I stipulate that it’s not for everybody, not everybody loves Star Wars. But the people who do I call UPFs, Ultra Passionate Fans.”

Hamill added, “They love this thing to the point where they relate stories of how it got them through their mother’s illness or they met their wife online or they – It’s just become such a fabric of their lives. It’s truly moving.”

He continued, “I don’t see it on a day-to-day basis, but when I go out in public or to these celebrations and so forth, it’s just astonishing how passionate they really and I don’t take it for granted. And if it weren’t for the fans I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to Stephen Colbert.”

Back in January after a fan shared a clip of the show, Hamill noted, “It’s ALL about the fans.”
