Rumor: Marvel’s Disney Plus Hawkeye Series Indefinitely Delayed

A new rumor details that the recently announced Hawkeye series expected to debut on Disney Plus has now been indefinitely delayed.

The rumor comes from Murphy’s Multiverse who details, “Production on Marvel Studios planned Disney Plus series, Hawkeye, has been postponed indefinitely.”

The rumor adds, “The series has now been removed from the studio’s 2020 production schedule.”

As for why the series was removed, the rumor details its due to “changes to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe…that will allow for some plot points of the larger, ongoing narrative of the MCU to be introduced ahead of the series.”

Back in September, Variety reported that Marvel Studios offered Bumblebee actress Hailee Steinfeld the opportunity to play Kate Bishop alongside Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye.

However, when asked about the show at the red carpet for her Dickinson TV show, Steinfeld stated, “That I don’t know about!” She added, “I don’t know. I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Variety speculates that Steinfeld is hesitant to take on the role due to her commitment to Apple TV’s Dickinson. They also mention that Steinfeld might have signed a non-compete clause with Apple that would prevent her from starring in the Hawkeye series on Disney Plus.

Hawkeye

As described by Avengers: Endgame producer Trinh Tran, the series was expected to take place following the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Tran told ComicBook.com, “I think with Endgame, it’s always going to impact all of the characters that we are introducing in our Disney+ streaming shows as well as the future of features, right, for the characters that are still existing.”

She added, “So you’re just going to have to find… I can’t say much about that!””

Hawkeye

Marvel Studios officially announced the Hawkeye series at San Diego Comic Con. At San Diego Comic Con, Renner provided some details about the plans Marvel had.

Renner stated, “What I get to do in the show, ultimately is shepherd an amazing character to be ultimately be a better version of me. The fiber of what Hawkeye is, at least what I think Hawkeye is, is a superhero without superpowers. And I get to teach someone else to be a superhero without superpowers.”

Feige added, “Bringing Kate Bishop into the MCU and by the way we’ll explore more of his time as Ronin in this series.”

Marvel Studios announced that the show would launch on Disney Plus in the Fall of 2021. However, if this rumor turns out to be true, the show might not arrive on the streaming platform until much later.
