Calls for Vince Vaughn To Be “Cancelled” Begin After He Meets With President Donald Trump at College National Championship Game

After meeting with President Donald Trump at the College National Championship game between LSU and Clemson, a number of individuals called for actor Vince Vaughn to be “cancelled.”

Former Daily Beast and Deadspin reporter Timothy Burke shared a video of Vaughn shaking hands with President Donald Trump. He wrote on Twitter, “I’m very sorry to have to share this video with you. All of it, every part of it.”

Bill Palmer of the Palmer Report went on the offensive writing, “Vince Vaughn had the chance to stand up to a rapist, traitor, and child murderer, and instead he enthusiastically shook Donald Trump’s hand.”

He added, “F*** em both.”

Others would chime in.

While a number of people would call for Vince Vaughn to be cancelled, others would mock those making the call.

Back in 2016, Vince Vaughn appeared at a Young Americans for Liberty Conference at UCLA. While there he stated, “I think the message of individual liberty and peace is contagious.”

He also had high praise for Rand Paul, who was at the time running for President of the United States. However, he did not endorse him.

Vaughn stated, “I have gotten to know Rand through Ron and I have found him to be very consistent on a lot of the issues where liberty is concerned, and liked him very much.”

He continued, “There are some things I wasn’t totally understanding of [regarding Rand Paul’s politics, but] … he is the candidate that is currently running that I am most sort of aligned with in sort of his thoughts and philosophies.”

He concluded, “But to me, Ron was the most consistent in the tradition of liberty.”

Vaughn also indicated he’s a firm believer in the right to bear arms. In an interview with GQ in 2015, he stated, “I support people having a gun in public full stop, not just in your home. We don’t have the right to bear arms because of burglars; we have the right to bear arms to resist the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government.”

He continued, “It’s not about duck hunting; it’s about the ability of the individual. It’s the same reason we have freedom of speech. It’s well known that the greatest defence against an intruder is the sound of a gun hammer being pulled back.”

Needless to say, Vaughn has been vocal about a number of his political views in the past.

What do you make of people trying to cancel Vince Vaughn for shaking hands and meeting the President of the United States?
