Sebastian Stan Seemingly Throws Shade at Marvel Studios and Avengers: Endgame Over Captain America’s Ending

The Winter Soldier actor Sebastian Stan seemingly threw some shade at Marvel Studios, Avengers: Endgame, the Russo Brothers, and writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely for how they concluded Captain America’s story.

Stan posted to his Instagram Stories a screenshot of the official Marvel Studios UK & Ireland account showing a video of Captain America and Bucky Barnes’ journey through the MCU and captioning it, “Together until the end of the line.”

Not only did Stan’s Instagram Story post feature the official Marvel Studios account, but it also featured a reply from Twitter user TheNenya, who wrote, “Together until the end of the line. Or until, bad, inconsistent, out-of character writing turns Steve Rogers into his own anti-thesis. Shouldn’t it be “together until the end of the lie” now?”

TheNenya has been open about her criticism of Avengers: Endgame and especially how it treats Captain America in the past. She shared an article from Gamespot, which takes issue with the idea that Captain America decided to live a second life with Peggy Carter at the end of Endgame, given the past events of Captain America: Civil War and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where he laid Peggy Carter to rest after her death and had a brief romance with Sharon Carter.

Stan posted the below screenshot to his Instagram Story featuring both of the tweets.

As you can see Stan doesn’t leave a comment other than a “flushed” emoji. But I think it’s safe to assume that the actor might also be perplexed at Steve Rogers’ decision to live a whole new life with Peggy Carter given he buried her and had moved on not just romantically, but was rebuilding his friendship with Bucky Barnes after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

In fact, Rogers abandoned Barnes for over half a lifetime in order to live a second life with Peggy Carter. He most certainly didn’t stay with Bucky “until the end of the line.”

Star Wars actor John Boyega would respond to Stan’s Instagram Story on Twitter writing, “Welcome Mr Stan ! Welcome.”

Leading up to the release of The Rise of Skywalker, Boyega began publicly taking issue with his role as Finn in The Last Jedi describing it as “a bit iffy.”

What do you make of Stan’s Instagram Story? Do you agree with TheNenya regarding Captain America’s storyline in Avengers: Endgame?
