Han Solo and The Call of The Wild Actor Harrison Ford Believes America Has Lost It’s Moral Leadership And Credibility

Harrison Ford, best known for his portrayals of Han Solo and Indiana Jones, was in Mexico City promoting his new movie, The Call of The Wild. While promoting the film, Ford claimed the United States lacked moral leadership.

As reported by Huffpost, Ford specifically highlighted climate change and immigration while claiming America lost its moral authority and credibility.
He stated, “We’re facing some real pressing issues in America and we’re working hard to sort them out.” He went on to call current U.S. immigration policy “ludicrous” and said that it needed “complete reform.”
“We need to invite people into the country,” Ford said. “Not keep them out. This is the history of America, it depends on immigration.”
The Hollywood actor also expressed concern about the United States’ role as a global leader. Ford stated, “Our position in the world is tenuous because of our lack of moral leadership, basically.” He added, “We lost some of our credibility in the world and we are anxious to regain it.”
Ford then expressed concern about the state of science saying, “Science is being denigrated.”
He elaborated, “Science is being ridiculed by people in ideological campgrounds. They are refusing the wisdom, the discipline of science in favor of a political point of view and that has to stop.”
He also praised Greta Thunberg and his activism on the issue of climate change: “I admire her role representing to young people, her courage. Also, I admire her capacity to express herself… It seems young people have a leadership role”
Finally, the actor claimed that climate change is the biggest threat facing the human race, “I consider the threat of the natural world as the single biggest threat to humanity.”
This isn’t the first time the actor has talked about the denigration of science. Last year while speaking in Dubai during the World Government Summit, he sent out a plea to protect the Earth’s oceans. During his speech, he called out President Donald Trump and others who “deny or denigrate science.”
He stated, “Around the world, elements of leadership — including in my own country — to preserve their state and the status quo, deny or denigrate science.” Ford added, “They are on the wrong side of history.”
