Avengers Star Gwyneth Paltrow Claims Lady Part Scented Candle Is “Feminist Statement”

Avengers actor Gwyneth Paltrow recently detailed that her lady part scented candle titled “This Smells Like My Vagina” is a “feminist statement.”

The product description on Paltrow’s Goop website details the candle “started as a joke between perfumer Douglas Little and [Gwyneth Paltrow] —the two were working on a fragrance, and she blurted out, “Uhhh..this smells like a vagina.”

From there the candle reportedly “evolved into a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent. (That turned out to be perfect as a candle—we did a test run at an In goop Health, and it sold out within hours.)”

The candle scent is described as a “a blend of geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed that puts us in mind of fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth.”

Paltrow recently appeared on The Ellen Show to talk to about the candle with guest host John Legend.

When asked what the candle smells like Paltrow responded, “It smells – well, the candle itself smells like roses and bergamot.”

During the interview Paltrow would declare that the candle is a “feminist statement.”

It really was — you know, it’s this amazing brand named Heretic. They create all clean fragrances and so it was really like a feminist statement, you know.”

She continued, “I think it, you know, the idea, again, that women have been taught to have a certain degree of shame or embarrassment about their body. And so if you just light a candle that says “This Smells Like My Vagina” and you know put it on the coffee table, it’s a little bit of a punk rock statement.”
