Pokemon Announces The 30 Most Popular Pokemon And Winner Of Pokemon Of The Year!

Pokemon revealed their top 30 most popular Pokemon based on fan votes as well as the winner of the Pokemon of the Year as they launched Pokemon Day.

They celebrated the Top 10 on YouTube.

Here’s the full list.

30. Snom

Snom is an ice and bug type Pokemon introduced in Generation VIII.

It evolves into Frosmoth when leveled up with high friendship at night.

Here’s the Pokedex entry for Pokemon Shield:

“It eats snow that piles up on the ground. The more snow it eats, the bigger and more impressive the spikes on its back grow.”

Snom received 38,034 votes.

29. Blaziken

Blaziken is a fire and fighting type Pokemon first introduced in Generation III.

It is the final evolution of Torchic. It evolves from Combusken beginning at level 36.

Blaziken can Mega Evolve into Mega Blaziken with a Blazikenite.

Here’s the Pokedex entry from Omega Ruby:

“In battle, Blaziken blows out intense flames from its wrists and attacks foes courageously. The stronger the foe, the more intensely this Pokémon’s wrists burn.”

Blaziken received 38,307 votes.

28. Sceptile

Sceptile is a grass type Pokemon introduced in Generation III.

It is the final evolution of Treecko and evolves from Grovyle at level 36.

It can Mega Evolve into Mega Sceptile using the Sceptilite.

“Sceptile has seeds growing on its back. They are said to be bursting with nutrients that revitalize trees. This Pokémon raises the trees in a forest with loving care.”

Sceptile received 38,724 votes.

27. Hydreigon

Hyreigon is dark and dragon type pseudo-legendary Pokemon first introduced in Generation V.

It is the final evolution of Deino and evolves from Zweilous beginning at level 64.

“The three heads take turns sinking their teeth into the opponent. Their attacks won’t slow until their target goes down.”

Hydreigon received 40,045 votes.

26. Flygon

Flygon is a ground and dragon type Pokemon first introduced in Generation III.

It is the final evolution of Trapinch and evolves from Vibrava beginning at level 45.

“This Pokémon hides in the heart of sandstorms it creates and seldom appears where people can see it.”

Flygon received 41,420 votes.

25. Corviknight

Corviknight is a flying and steel type Pokemon first introduced in Generation VIII.

It is the final evolution of Rookidee and evolves from Corvisquire at level 38.

Corviknight can be Gigantamaxed.

Here’s its Pokedex entry from Pokemon Sword:

“This Pokémon reigns supreme in the skies of the Galar region. The black luster of its steel body could drive terror into the heart of any foe.”

Corviknight received 41,711 votes.

24. Lycanroc

Lycanroc is a rock type Pokemon first introduced in Generation VII.

Lycanroc evolves from Rockruff at level 25. It has different forms depending on the version of the game it is evolved in.

He evolves into Lycanroc in Pokemon Sun and Ultra Sun in his Midday Form when leveled up during the day.

His Midnight Form is obtained when he is leveled up at night in Pokemon Moon and Ultra Moon.

The Dusk Form Lycanroc is obtained when a Rockruff has Own Tempo and is evolved between 5 p.m. and 5:59 p.m. in in-game time in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

The Midday Form Pokedex entry from Ultra Sun reads:

“The sharp rocks in its mane can cut like knives. Lycanroc wears its prey down by degrees before finishing them off.”

Lycanroc received 42,792 votes.

23. Zoroark

Zoroark is a dark type Pokemon first introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Zorua at level 30.

“If it thinks humans are going to discover its den, Zoroark shows them visions that make them wander around in the woods.”

Zoroark received 43,782 votes.

22. Decidueye

Decidueye is a grass and ghost type Pokemon first introduced in Generation VII.

It is the final evolution of Rowlet. It evolves from Dartrix at level 34.

“In a tenth of a second, it can nock and fire an arrow quill, piercing an opponent’s weak point before they notice what’s happening.”

Decidueye received 44,011 votes.

21. Luxray

Luxray is an electric type Pokemon first introduced in Generation IV.

It is the final evolution of Shinx and evolves from Luxio at level 30.

Luxray received 46,032 votes.

20. Eevee

Eevee is a normal type Pokemon first introduced in Generation I.

It can evolve into eight different Pokemon including Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.

Eevee can also Gigantamax.

“Thanks to its unstable genetic makeup, this special Pokémon conceals many different possible evolutions.”

Eevee received 47,762 votes.

19. Pikachu

Pikachu is an electric type Pokemon first introduced in Generation I.

Pikachu evolves into Raichi when leveled up and exposed to a Thunder Stone.

It also has a Gigantax form.

“When Pikachu meet, they’ll touch their tails together and exchange electricity through them as a form of greeting.”

Pikachu received 48,060 votes.

18. Chandelure

Chandelure is a ghost and fire type Pokemon first introduced in Generation V.

It is the final evolution of Litwick and evolves from Lampent when exposed to a Dusk Stone.

“This Pokémon haunts dilapidated mansions. It sways its arms to hypnotize opponents with the ominous dancing of its flames.”

Chandelure received 50,943 votes.

17. Aegislash

Aegislash is a steel and ghost type Pokemon introduced in Generation VI.

It is the final form of Honedge and evolves from Doublade when exposed to a Dusk Stone.

Aegislash can change forms during battle depending on the moves it uses.

Here’s the Pokedex entry for its Shield Forme from Shield:

“Its potent spectral powers allow it to manipulate others. It once used its powers to force people and Pokémon to build a kingdom to its liking.”

Aegislash received 51,517 votes.

16. Rowlet

Rowlet is a grass and flying type Pokemon first introduced in Generation VII.

It evolves into Datrix at level 17 and then into Decidueye at level 34.

“At a distance, it launches its sharp feathers while flying about. If the enemy gets too close, Rowlet switches tactics and delivers vicious kicks.”

Rowlet received 52,367 votes.

15. Lugia

Lugia is a psychic and flying type legendary Pokemon first introduced in Generation II.

It does not evolve into or from anything.

“Lugia’s wings pack devastating power — a light fluttering of its wings can blow apart regular houses. As a result, this Pokémon chooses to live out of sight deep under the sea.”

Lugia received 53,268 votes.

14. Toxtricity

Toxtricity is an electric and poison type Pokemon first introduced in Generation VIII.

It evolves from Troxel at level 30 and takes on a different form depending on its nature.

It acquire the Amped Form if it its nature is Hardy, Brave, Adamant, Naughty, Docile, Impish, Lax, Hasty, Jolly, Naive, Rash, Sassy, or Quirky.

It gets the Low Key Form if its nature is Lonely, Bold, Relaxed, Timid, Serious, Modest, Mild, Quiet, Bashful, Calm, Gentle, or Careful.

Toxtricity can also be Gigantamaxed.

“Out of control after its own poison penetrated its brain, it tears across the land in a rampage, contaminating the earth with toxic sweat.”

Toxtricity received 55,032 votes.

13. Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur is a grass and poison type Pokemon first introduced in Generation I.

It evolves into Ivysaur at level 16 and Venosaur at level 32.

“There is a plant seed on its back right from the day this Pokémon is born. The seed slowly grows larger.”

Bulbasaur received 56,015 votes.

12. Tyranitar

Tyranitar is a rock and dark type pseudo-legendary Pokemon first introduced in Generation II.

Tyranitar is the final evolution of Larvitar and evolves from Pupitar at level 55.

It can Mega Evolve into Mega Tyranitar with Tyranitarite.

“The quakes caused when it walks make even great mountains crumble and change the surrounding terrain.”

Tyranitar received 56,834 votes.

11. Dragapult

Dragapult is a dragon and ghost type pseudo-legendary Pokemon first introduced in Generation VIII.

It is the final form of Dreepy and evolves from Drakloak beginning at level 60.

“When it isn’t battling, it keeps Dreepy in the holes on its horns. Once a fight starts, it launches the Dreepy like supersonic missiles.”

Dragapult received 57,973 votes.

10. Gengar

In 10th place is the powerful ghost and poison type Pokemon Gengar. Gengar was first introduced in Generation I. Gengar evolves from Haunter when traded. It is the final evolution of Gastly.

While Gengar is the final evolution of Gastly, he can evolve into a Mega Gengar using a Gengarite.

In Pokemon Sword and Shield, Gengar can also evolve into Giagantamax Gengar.

“On the night of a full moon, if shadows move on their own and laugh, it must be Gengar’s doing.”

Gengar received 60,214 votes.

9. Gardevoir

In 9 place is the elegant, but deadly Gardevoir. When Gardevoir was first introduced Generation III, Gardevoir was purely a psychic type Pokemon. However, after Generation IV, Gardevoir became a psychic and fairy type Pokemon.

Gardevoir is one of two final evolution of Ralts, the other being Gallade. It evolves from Kirlia beginning at level 30.

It can Mega Evolve into Mega Gardevoir with Gardevorite.

“To protect its Trainer, it will expend all its psychic power to create a small black hole.”

Gardevoir received 60,596 votes.

8. Rayquaza

Rayquaza is a legendary dragon and flying type Pokemon first introduced in Generation III.

Rayquaza can Mega Evolve into Mega Rayquaza. However, it must know Dragon Ascent and not be holding a Z-Crystal.

Here’s the Pokedex entry for Rayquaza from Alpha Sapphire:

“It flies forever through the ozone layer, consuming meteoroids for sustenance. The many meteoroids in its body provide the energy it needs to Mega Evolve.”

Rayquaza received 60,939 votes.

7. Garchomp

Garchomp is a dragon and ground pseudo-legendary Pokemon that was first introduced in Generation IV.

He is the final evolution of Gible and evolves from Gabite beginning at level 48.

Garchomp can evolve into a Mega Garchomp using a Grachompite.

Here’s the Pokedex entry for Garchomp for Pokemon Ultra Sun:

“It flies at the speed of sound while searching for prey, and it has midair battles with Salamence as the two compete for food.”

Garchomp received 61,877 votes.

6. Sylveon

Sylveon is a fairy type Pokemon first introduced in Generation VI.

Sylveon evolves from Eevee when leveled up knowing a fairy-type move and having at least two levels of Affection in the 3DS games or high friendship in Generation VIII.

The Pokedex entry for Sylveon in Pokemon Sword reads:

“By releasing enmity-erasing waves from its ribbonlike feelers, Sylveon stops any conflict.”

Sylveon recieved 66,029 votes.

5. Umbreon

Umbreon is a dark type Pokemon first introduced in Generation II.

Like Sylveon, Umbreon evolves from Eevee. However in order to evolve Umbreon from Eevee, it must be leveled up with high friendship during the night.

The Pokedex entry for Pokemon Shield reads:

“On the night of a full moon, or when it gets excited, the ring patterns on its body glow yellow.”

Umbreon received 67,062 votes.

4. Charizard

Charizard is a fire and flying type Pokemon that was introduced in Generation I.

Charizard is the final evolution of the Generation I starter Pokemon Charmander. Charizard evolves from Charmeleon at level 36.

Charizard can evolve into Mega Charizard X using Charizardite X and Mega Charizard Y using Charizadite Y.

Charizard can also evolve into Gigantamax Charizard.

Here’s the Pokedex entry for Pokemon Shield:

“Its wings can carry this Pokémon close to an altitude of 4,600 feet. It blows out fire at very high temperatures.”

Charizard received 93,968 votes.

3. Mimikyu

Mimikyu is a ghost and fairy type Pokemon first introduced in Generation VII.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokemon. However, it does change appearance when hit by an attack.

The Pokemon Shield Pokedex entry for Mimikyu’s Disguised Form reads:

“There was a scientist who peeked under Mimikyu’s old rag in the name of research. The scientist died of a mysterious disease.”

And here’s the Pokedex entry for Mimikyu’s Busted Form:

“Its disguise made from an old rag allowed it to avoid an attack, but the impact broke the neck of the disguise. Now everyone knows it’s a Mimikyu.”

Mimikyu received 99,077 votes.

2. Lucario

Lucario is a fighting and steel Pokemon first introduced in Generation VI.

Lucario evolves from Riolu when leveled up with high friendship during the day.

Lucario can evolve into Mega Lucario using Lucarionite.

“It controls waves known as auras, which are powerful enough to pulverize huge rocks. It uses these waves to take down its prey.”

Lucario received 102,259 votes.

1. Greninja

Greninja is the winner of the Pokemon of the Year. Greninja is a water and dark type Pokemon first introduced in Generation VI.

The Pokemon is the final evolution of Forakie. It evolves from Frogadier beginning at level 36.

It can transform into Ash-Greninja with the Battle Bond ability.

Here’s the Pokedex entry for Greninja from Alpha Sapphire:

“It appears and vanishes with a ninja’s grace. It toys with its enemies using swift movements, while slicing them with throwing stars of sharpest water.”

Greninja received 140,559 votes.
